            Done.

It’s weird that the calici-vaccine is allowed but not the myxo.

Bam, the myx vaccine is a “live” vaccine. This is the major holdback as they think the immunity could be spread the same way the virus is – mainly via biting insects. Im not sure how much study has been done but there is talk that the immunity given from the combined myx/RHD vaccine (nobivac) doesnt spread. This would be ideal. It would need to be proven beyond doubt though before they allowed the vaccine here.

I was finally able to hyperlink the petition in original post. Sorry for those that had to cut n paste. Thanks for signing!

I remember taking Henry to the vet bam for his neuter and the vet insisted on him having the Calici vaccine but couldn’t offer the Myxo vaccine and explained how they used this awful disease to control rabbit’s in Australia. What a HORRIBLE way to die – it is nothing short of cruel! Shame on Australia!

AH, in Sweden myxo was implanted in the 1950ies for the same reason, so we’re not one bit better here. We have outbreaks of myxo every year and the vaccine for pet rabbits doesn’t seem to make any difference. I see sick rabbits every fall and its just awful, the suffering of these poor little creatures. In some areas the local authorities have sick wild rabbits shot, but not in my town.

Another reason why to keep you bun’s indoors. I couldn’t stand to see any animal suffer like that, especially our pet’s – it is so devastating.
I understand completely (especially here in Australia) that farmer’s have to protect their crops, but why be so cruel???
And to consider someone’s pet as a target for this outrageous disease is unforgivable! Especially when we good bunny owner’s are prepared to safeguard our pet’s at any expense, but we aren’t ALLOWED the vaccine???

I honestly don’t know what to say bam……
