After dinner i went to check on my bunny. I picked him up then set him on the couch to sit with me. At first he was fine, then he flicked his front paw and blood splattered all over me and my face. I looked and i saw that his front paw’s nail was bent diagonally. It was wierd and it was kind of bloody. I have a little towel for him and he always nips at it and i think that thats why its bleeding. I feel bad for him and i dont know what to do! Im only fourteen years old and its sunday night my moms still eating and she told me to look online. My rabbit is EXTREMELY squirmy and its really hard to do ANYTHING with him. When i went to comfort him and give him a treat he just ran away and hid. I have no idea what to do and i feel really sad for him! Someone please help!!

I just came back from school and bought him some new hay and special grasses. I checked on him and i saw the blood was more fresh than in the morning. He was fine in the morning and it dried up and he was happy, until now. He devoured the grass that i got btw his nail is still on his front paw

dip the bloody area in cornstarch or flower and that should stop the bleeding

Nail’s bleed like crazy but really aren’t a big deal. Can you see it well enough without handling him to view daily to watch for signs of infection? That’s all I’d do if handling him is going to be tricky

And now you want to start working on handling him, and touching his paws -slowly and make it pleasant, so when something goes wrong and you need to give medication or treat him, it’s not too hard to do!
