        my bunnies love playing in a fenced off area on our front lawn. but recently the lawn was sprayed with weed killer. It was sprayed about a week ago and it’s been rainy since. Is it still too dangerous for the bunnies to play on the lawn? It’s such a nice day and I know they would love it.

          JMO, but because bunnies eat the grass, I would not let them on or near any area that has been sprayed.

              JMO=just my opinion

              a week is nothing, the rain sent the weed killer to the roots, that stuff can remain in the soil for up to a year these days. don’t let your bunnies play out there!

                Besides the danger from the weed killer, there are many other dangers for a rabbit outside. Just because it is in a fenced area, that doesn’t make it safe. It could pick up fleas or ticks or other parasites, plus there is the danger of a predator getting to it or just getting close enough to scare it and have the rabbit injure itself in fright. I know of a person who was in her fenced in back yard with her rabbit, and a hawk swooped down and attacked the rabbit.

                  Weed killer is very toxic.

                      I agree with the others here that weed killer is toxic to bunnies. I believe fertilizer is also toxic.

                      I’m lucky enough that we never spray our yard with anything, neither do our neighbors. I have an enclosure that also has the top secured, so I don’t have to worry about a hawk swooping down on by bun! Additionally, I put a puppy/kitten dose of Revolution on Liebchen once a month, to protect her from any fleas or mites that could be on the lawn.

                      I’d definitely wait until it rains a few times before letting your bunnies hop around outside again. I’d also recommend getting a secure-top enclosure for them to use while outside, and to dose them with Revolution once a month.
