For those who doesn’t know about Bacci recent gender discovery and poop marking territory(still need help in this)…

        https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/138166/Default.aspx

I went home for lunch. and noticed Bacci was busy collecting shredded news paper from the digging box I made for them to play, and ran to the narrow space in between the wall and the bed where both Bacci and Toki takes their nap. I checked that place and saw that Bacci had brought a lot of shredded papers and dried hays. I also noticed some of her furs too. Isn’t that a sign of Mama bunny getting ready for delivery or something?? O.O  If so OH MY GOD! How is this possible?? Toki is neutered ! As I have mentioned in above thread. It was a very stressful moment to separate Bacci from Toki, Bacci acted all crazy and went all crazy cat on me. I didn’t think it was possible but she sure did convince me that shes a Cat reincarnate as a bunny

        Here’s a picture:

(the crack looking kind of thing is all Toki’s work >.<

Bacci never behaved like this before. She doesn’t look that pregnant either O.O

Any suggestion/advice or opinion is very helpful. In this situation and also the thread I mention above.

Thank you all in advance. You guys have been with me for alot of things. Thank you!

Oh gosh (you must be sick of me, lol!), I have no idea, but I read everything you post and even when I can’t help, I can’t help but reply. I think Roberta is still up and about – honestly, PM her! She is my go to guy (girl! Lol!) if I need help at this time of night when everyone else is asleep. And she is amazing – not only does she know her stuff, she is super friendly with her advice.

Take care Tokii and know that even though I am no help I am always here for you……

Even if a male bunny is neutered, you need to wait a few weeks before you let him see girls, Sperm may survive in the “plumming” of the male bun for quite some time. Since Bacci was still a boy when Toki was neutered, this was not a concern.

Bacci may be nesting due to her hormonal changes as she is now reaching maturity. Or she may actually be pregnant. Time will of course tell. They are pregnant for sth like 22 days.

I hope she’s not pregnant of course, but these things do happen since bunnies are notoriously difficult to sex when they’re young.

Andy : No! Please don’t say that.  I will never be sick of you or anyone else in this forum. Even if you don’t know what to say, when you reply anyway that makes me ease up a bit to know you guys are there for me. Honestly I don’t have any other people left to hopelessly go crazy over these things. I will be sure to PM her.

Bam : Oh Bam, this is so stupid of me isn’t it?! To assume her gender so soon. If she were pregnant, I am assuming its not going to be safe for her huh?  And its all because of me. My hubby called the Vet and the Vet said he doesn’t think Bacci is pregnant but he would like to pay a visit to check her out. But even if she is pregnant or not, there’s no way he can do a scan. No such facilities in here… So whats the point of him coming over? but he will visit anyway.

Oh dear… Yes, boys still have sperm for a month after neuter. That’s how I got caught out. Little bugger fathered his second oops litter even though he was desexed two weeks before the first arrived. You have babies on the way, Bacci is going to need a safe warm place. Get her a box. Cut a hole in the front and stuff it with her nesting materials and put it in the space she has chosen. Give her unlimited access to greens, pellets and hay. She is going to be needing lots of extra calories.

If she is nesting the vet will be able to feel her tummy to see if she has babies. Nesting generally happen till they are close to giving birth, about 7 – 10 days away, possibly sooner.

Oh my god! This really is happening isnt it!!?? Oh my oh my! Roberta thank you for your prompt respomd but somehow i cant seems to reply to your PM. But but her tummy looks so flat?? I mean just regular. And to your Pm question. I notice her trying to rip my bedsheet last night. And she is still at it. When she fails she goes to the shredded news papers and proceed making her nest. She takes little rest to lay down and again working on the nest again. I tried tempting her with carrots but shes not eating. I will temptt her with lettuce shortly.
Its really happening isnt it…feel nausea out of nervous and panick

As for making a nest area with the whole box thing near to where she made her nest is not possible. Because next is my bed. but i could make a that inside the playpen and then take what she gathered for nesting and moved inside it? Will it do any harm? My apartment is on renovation and things are goiing very slow so still stuck at the studio apartment. Its impossible to make a nest box near as shown above narrow place. She is currently laying on top of the nest place. As soon as she runs about should i quickly pick all of it stuff it inside her meant to be nest box and place it inside the playpen?and once she is in i could close the door so toki wont be able to come in but i can already see her throwing a fit for seperating them. *sigh* and i am suppose to make pregnant bunny happy. *Double sigh*

Yikes. She’s definitely building a nest. Two possibilities – you got minis comin’……. or she may be having a pseudo-pregnancy (or false pregnancy). Either Toki is even more of a superbun than we thought… or Bacci’s hormones are all causing her crazy. I did find an informational link. http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Uro_gen_diseases/Pseu_preg/pseudo_en.htm (sorry, you might have to copy and paste) Good luck…. let us know what happens…. and try to stay calm. I’m sure this was a shock… we’ll hope for the best but if you get more little surprises….. don’t worry…. Bacci knows just what to do.

Emm_Renn : I hope such thing called false pregnancy exist in bunnys world.

LLH: Yes, when I think the worst is over they bring me new surprises.  Why Toki and Bacci..just why *sigh*

Toni: Thanks Toni. It sure was a shock for me. Hehe Toki is superbun LOL! his super strength is getting him to trouble this time. He knocked up a girl.  Thanks I am going to check out the page right away. I just hope thats her hormones kicking in.

Roberta: Ok I can see the pic now.

So since the narrow place in between the bed and the wasn’t safe I shifted all her stuff to a tray I made out of box and place a another box so that she could make her nest there.

Here’s the pic of the place. I made :

And heres the view from up. (removed the sheet to take a pic) there are two more blankie inside the box

Heres the box tray thing I made for her to pick stuffs for her nest.

Please feel free to give me more ideas and opinions to make this place even better. And I will try to do so.

And as for the Vet visit, he couldn’t visit us last night. But he said he will today or tonight.

So as  I was waiting for Bacci to make her nest..she doesnt bother doing so now. I think its a false alarm but like Roberta said Just have to wait I guess. But in the mean time I notice there were some territory marking. So thats makes Bacci pooping every where and now Territory marking. *sigh* I got so tired I let Bacci in there and blocked the door. At first she got so upset and went crazy but when Toki came near and lay down..she did the same. I cleaned the whole room and when to take a nap. And woke up to see it was Toki who is territory marking!! I thought neutering makes these things stop?

And if it is because of Bacci, if they are bonded why would Toki marks his territory?? I kept Bacci in there til Friday morning. I occasionally let Toki in so that Bacci get to spend time with him. And at times I let Bacci out. Is there no other way to this? I know I know, spaying is the only answer. But there have got to be a another way. I am terrified to go through spaying HERE(my country) I want to leave spaying as a last option.

Territory marking can happen even in spayed/neutered rabbits if they have a spat over something. Or when they enter a new territory. My two have been playing in the living room since a mouse died and is stinking up their normal play room, so they’ve been marking it as “theirs” with droppings. *sigh* lol

Erm, they kinda just have to sort it out themselves. Spats can happen over anything, even a “you touched the litter box when I wanted it to myself!” … which causes marking. lol Dumb bunnies.

Yeah, it depends on the bunnies and what they consider an “agreement violation”. LOL

Make sure to continue to clean up pee spots thoroughly, that might help a bit if they aren’t smelling where they previously marked. Poop isn’t as big of a deal since they are relatively easy to pick up.

I am so tired of picking up Bacci’s poop before I separated them and confined Bacci her own place but visible to each other.  I at times give them time to play together so I let Bacci out. The minute she’s out she runs pooping everywhere except my bed. So I eventually got tired running after her I let her poop to her heart content and once shes tired and lay next to Toki I start picking them up. There is no end to her pooping isn’t it. Not until I spay her huh. The mere thought is frightful.  I just wish there’s a clinic for Animals here.

Tokii, though I am fortunate enough to live near some experienced vets, I certainly sympathize with your situation and the spaying. But, its important not only to think of the risk she might not make it through the surgery, you should also consider the other risks.

Honestly, the way I see it there are the following two options
                                                    (1) Don’t Spay. Yes, you still have poops, but more realistically you have an 80 percent chance of her getting cancer in the first 2 years. If your vet isn’t experienced enough to do a spay, I can only imagine a more invasive surgery. Thus, your looking at a pretty realistic 2-3 year time frame as an 80 percent chance.
                                                    (2) Spay. Lets assume some scenario where there is a 30 percent chance she does not make it out of the surgery successfully. That is a 30 percent chance of 0 years but also a 70 percent chance of her living 6-12 with little agression, better litter habits, and a healthier life.

Honestly, 30 percent is a stretch, and I think spaying here is a very necessary solution, though I certainly understand you dilemma :/. I can only wish you the best of luck.

This is such a tough decision to make, Toki. There is no 100% guarantee that a spaying will stop the poop-marking. My bunnies are both neutered and they both poop-mark by the gate that separates them. Bam is by far the worst, he was considerably older than Yohio when he was neutered. They are NOT bonded however, so they’re constantly claiming their ground.

The law bunny: Thank you for the advice/opinion.  I did think through the risks, actually both risks and currently juggling in between two decisions. Honestly speaking, I have no hope she will make it if I spay here and to me that is more scarier. And some how somewhere in my brain and heart (maybe the stupid part) I am more convinced its more important to be able to see her live longer and not risk by doing this surgery here. I have this fear she wont make it. (Ka-boooom…I just said it out..didn’t I) Although deep down I do know spaying is the best solution and I do want to do it…just not here. Its the scary thought of doing it here is freaking me out more. And I am more convinced I will be able to take care of her carefully enough to not to let her get this cancer thing. But whom am I kidding. If there was such solution, it will be already known…Maybe I am just on denial..I am on denial.

Anyways thank you, will need all the luck I can get.

Bam: So even if I take the risk of spaying and lets say magically she survived….still no stop in poop marking huh. So I wonder if its worth taking the risk of doing the unorthodox surgery procedure here because there’s 80% risk in getting the cancer. Oh god..this is killing me.

Oh dear…. I have been secretly stalking all of your threads (lol)…. My my my…. You poor thing anyway, the first thing you need to do is calm down, it great that you worry so much! Your buns get the best care! im the same way, such a worry wart but you need to calm yourself and think, consider both sides of the story and lOok at this in different angles, like as far as fixing bacci, you could drive somewhere even if it’s far and get her fixed maybe get a pet friendly hotel to help her recover before you make the trip home, and just take a moment get some calming music and kind of just relax maybe sit with the buns and treat yourself! (((((vibes of calming))))) don’t cry, because every time you cry about a bun, a bun cries about you <3

Is there any possibility you could convince the vet to get someone who is more knowledgeable or to learn a more orthodox procedure.

Yeah if your two aren’t bonded, spaying won’t stop the poop marking. And it’s hard to bond without being spayed. So, erm.. .hm. I wish you had more vets in y our area!

But, something to help you with the poop – buy a cheap shop vac or hand held vacuum. It’s easier to just run the vac over it and have it all gone in a few seconds / minutes (depending on teh area size) than pick it up by hand.

Whobott: Hehe thank you for your lovely comment hehe. So nice and adorable the way your concern about me worrying too much..The thing is, I live in a country name Maldives. This is a very small country. Its hardly visible on the map too I think. The islands are scattered. I live in Male’ the capital city (also very small). There are no such thing as pet friendly hotels, Vet Clinics let along no such thing as road trip, there’s hardly a long road to begin with. So small I you will be able to run around(the outskirt) the whole island within 30 to 40 minutes. Beyond the island is sea, and other islands/resorts. If there’s anything that would be a sea trip not a road trip. hehe

The bunny law : The ministry of fisheries and agriculture provided only one Vet.. and hes from Sri Lanka. He is a mobile Vet. And no, he does not bring a van with him to do the surgery. Surgery is performed inside our house. And When it was Toki turn to neuter I did ask him if he knew other vets he said no, not here in Maldives at least.

I have seen (internet) how spaying and neutering is done in the vet clinics and things they use and they do it in a place specialized to do those things (CLINIC) so when I say unorthodox way, because its done in the house, us assisting the vet and all here. The day I called my Vet with panic about Bacci pregnant issue, he said with disappointment “What to do? there is no scanning privileges here for them. The only thing we can do is wait and see.” So yeah that’s that.

Stickerbunny: They love sleeping and laying next to each other. Bacci follows Toki around. Bacci even grooms him. Toki doesnt return the grooming although he loves laying next to her and let his head down gesturing her to comfort him. LOL Is that not bonding hehe. Maybe its not. Yeah thanks I gotta get one of those.

Anyway, we are on kit watch (again). I am curious to hear if Bacci ever had a litter or was it a pseudo pregnancy? Any updates from Tokii?
