So I have been bottling up so many updates and I didn’t want to keep opening a new separate threads for each one of them. Just making it easier for all of us.  This will be long post so please bear with me.

1 – I rearranged the furnitures’ in my studio apartment because it was needed to be done and very much necessary. And by doing that I totally messed up Bacci’s litter training. Now Bacci keeps pooping different places and thank god Bacci is still peeing in the litter though. So my  hubby made this playpen area just for Bacci to start his litter training again. So once we finished the play pen and when he went inside his playpen, we closed the door. This was a terrifying, Bacci kept darting from one corner to another digging, he was breathing so fast. He kept searching for a way out and when he started acting all crazy and scared I got worried and opened the door and tried to let him out but he made this ahh…I am not sure how to describe this in words, he kinda made this sound when cats get angry they make a sound right? yeah that.. and attacked my hand. I know what I did next wasn’t a good thing but it came out because I didn’t know what else to do. I slapped my hand on the floor and said stop a bit louder…I know…bad mummy… but it did get him to stop acting crazy so I pat him for a while and when hes fine he ran out of the playpen and never came near to that thing.

I never kept the door closed, so Toki went in calmly and starting being typical Toki and enjoying the playpen. He never got out of that place. So Bacci saw Toki go in and decided to join in. And then it hit me, Bacci was terrified because I separated them. Because hear this, When Toki is inside and when I close the door Bacci doesn’t mind at least for a while. So now I am back to being hopeless in poopy training Bacci.

2 – As I was patiently pick his poops and put it back to litter day by day he has limited some of the area. And he continued all cuddling Toki and following him around. And I kept doubting he was a “HE” so once Bacci was laying as his dead pose showing his tummy area. I took a closer look and it hit me. I took him quickly and did a recheck up…yup…a girl… SO BACCI IS A GIRL. I mean I should have known..look at those legs and the way Bacci lays!

(Look at Toki being all sneaky)

No wonder Bacci is so mad when I tried to pick her up when they were having …*ahem time.. and when I tried put her inside the playpen separating from Toki

3 – Since Bacci is a girl bun bun is it necessary to do the neutering? I am terrified to do the girl neutering especially the way I had to do Toki’s. Maybe I got lucky with Toki because the procedure is quick and less complicated than girls.

4 – Toki is always laying now a days. I did check for possible scratch or him being hurt somewhere. Non, but I did see one of his nail very different from others and looks like broken. I did notice that when I first got him. But I thought it will grow eventually. Now its still looking the same. Do you think hes hurt from there. This is not a clear pic but this is the best I got.

*Phew that was tiring and calming after letting all out. And am so glad we didnt name Bacci “Tim” that would have been awkward after finding that he is apparently a “she”

Does Toki act sore when you touch his “broken” nail or gently press on the paw its on? If not, it may be just a broken nail, bunnies sometimes break nails and you don’t notice until next nail-clipping time. My Bam has a very crooked nail that curls upwards, probably from an old injury from before I got him. He never seems be to troubled by it and the vet has had a look at it and said it’s ok to just leave alone.

Bacci does look like a girl lying like that! It IS however important to spay girl rabbits because they are at very high risk of getting uterine cancer otherwise. You will have to discuss this with your vet. He seems like a very good vet. I can see how you’re not eager to go through that whole procedure again and a more invasive one at that, but it’s really the best thing for Bacci.

Bonded rabbits hate being apart. My Yohio can growl like a dog if he’s displeased with sth, so the sound she made was probably the sound of disgruntled bunny =) The first time I put him in a cage he panicked and darted off the netting of the cage like a projectile. (it was when I first got him and he had to be quarantined before I took him home to Bam). So the reaction to being caged in seems normal. You really need to keep Toki in there with her.

Her pooping everywhere may well be due to her advancing into maturity. Bunnies poop-mark their territories.

Bacci is a girl? I knew it! (After you called Bacci a “her” in the other thread!)

Bam: I did press once, he didn’t react immediately. Just out of annoyance I guess. Hes been distance with me lately.

Regarding Bacci spaying, I really, really deep down think its a bad idea. I mean yes the Vet is good and understanding. But I do not like how we went through Toki’s procedure. Us holding Toki down, and Toki coming to conscious on the last stitch. I cant imagine if Bacci were to regain conscious even little. I really do want to spay her but not like this. Not in an unorthodox way. Before Toki was neutered I went through some online pictures of how bunny spaying/neutering is done. Girls looks more scarier than boys and complicated. I really feel scared this time and even convinced to back out. But in the other hand, I do realize it is need to be done. But is it worth to take the risk? I am so confuse right now.

I just hope this poopy situation goes away. Is there any chance of her stopping eventually? without having to lock them both inside the playpen? If I do then that  playpen is no longer that spacious and very crowd if both Bacci to be locked inside there.I have been picking poop for few days and she has limited some area now.

MM: Yes!! I replied to your post without checking this thread LOL

Tokii, I fully understand your concerns. And I would’ve been very reluctant too, since spaying is a much more invasive procedure. Of course noone can tell you what to do, it’s a decision you’ll have to make yourself after careful consideration. I thought perhaps you could consult with your vet and discuss if it’s a good idea or if it’s better to leave things alone.

But the issue with Toki must be dealt with sooner, of course. Is this a health issue you think? Is he eating, peeing and pooping normally? Caring and observant rabbit owners (like you) often sort of “know” if there’s sth not right heathwise with their bunny. To me, the nail-thing doesn’t seem like a likely candidate for a change in behavior unless there’s swollenness or pain when you palpate (press and feel) it.

If there are no signs of ill-health except a somewhat subtle change in behavior, he could perhaps be reacting to Bacci’s new sexual scents and -behavior, since these things are big deals for rabbits. Is he lethargic? Even if he’s neutered, he will still have to go through a period when he is a “teen-ager”, when he becomes less of a “baby” and more of an adult. This often means becoming less cuddly and more independent of his mum and dad (you and hubby).

I’m sure others will see this thread and give you more ideas.

Me and Bam and Yohio send you lots and lots of hugs!

Bam: Your probably right. I will have a talk with the Vet as soon as he return to Male’.

As for Toki situation. Thank you! you think I am caring and observant!!! yeyy! He eats, poop, pee, and drink normal. In fact hes getting a lot bigger now. When he does run around, he only does that when husband leave the bed, then Toki jump up and down and dart from on corner of the bed to another and when finally tired he retreat to his comfy zone..*sigh*  his comfy zone used to be my butt/back/my tummy

OH!WAIT ! WHAT! LESS CUDDLY!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (my life with baby Toki, flashes before my eyes)

I no longer see the point of living.*Hic I might as well  *Hic stop *Hic Breathing *Hic ……..(Beep)……………….

Thank you especially Bam and Yohio..because I will need all the hugs I can get from you both. Apparently my son is too good to cuddle me anymore

                    LOL Tokii!!!

It may well be that Toki once the teen-age phase is over becomes more cuddly again. My bunny Yohio is about 2,5 ys (I’ve had him for 2 years) and he is very, very cuddly. Every night when I go to bed he comes and puts his head in my hand for pets. He sits under my desk when I’m sitting by the PC and if I put my foot down on the floor, he immediately tries to get his little head under it for pets. Every time I touch him in passing he melts, i e puts his chin on the floor and relaxes.

So there IS hope, esp since Toki’s been such a cuddler as a baby. He will need to do the teen-age phase for a while now though.

Moxie is turning 2 this august (Wow time flies!) and she’s kinda cuddly now. She was NOT cuddly as a baby though.

For the nail thing, I heard that if it breaks away all the way to the flesh and there is no nail there anymore it might not grow back. Moxie broke a nail almost all the way back Several months ago (some of you may remember me freaking out lol) and it has still barely grown back… Not sure if that’s the case with Toki though. (((Vibes)))

Thanks Bam and Moxie! for restoring faith in cuddle Toki will come back!

Awww I can imagine Yohio dropping flat to the ground even when your hand brushes against the softly soft furrrr Thanks Bam. So bunnies are not so different from humans huh.. they  go through this teenage phases with mood swing. LOL

I got so worried I made a digging box with full of Newspaper shredded,Like I used to make one for Toki When he first came. Toki seems a bit active and started playing with it all day long. Once he was tired he came to the bed when I was playing with my laptop, he was doing his happy darting here and there and jumping. I even had to take it away for a while because I needed to sleep and both Bacci and Toki werent thinking of giving it a break heheh. I was so happy he was active then before. I guess he got bored of thing he already had and wanted a taste of something new.  Although he still doesnt cuddle me. So I guess for that I have to wait until his teenage phase goes. And by what you and Moxie said I feel its totally worth the wait..I will be bottling all my hugging, cuddling when he is ready!

MM:Thanks MM, really needed to know if the cuddle thing will come back or not. It was a big help.  As for the nail part It was some what like that when I first got him. Back then I didnt know. And didnt ask you guys because he seems totally fine and active. So I guess it isnt growing back huh. Its not going to be a problem right? Thank you very much. I have been obsessing with nail thing even after I was convinced he is not in pain.

Ok so I did the stupidest thing by moving the litter tray closer to where Bacci used to Poop (before the furniture rearrangement) now she poops everywhere! Stupid stupid stupid stupid me. So change it back again, just before I came for work. Dont know how it would be when I go home. *Fingers crossed* Hopefully limited place with poop.

Since Bacci and Toki is bonded why would Bacci feel the need to poop territory mark the places? This is confusing. I don’t want spaying as an option yet. Not just yet..
