So my bunny, Daisy, is almost 1 year old, and i have decided it is time to get her fixed. I am so nervous though, what if she passes away while under the knife?? I don’t knot what i would do without her! I am just so nervous, can anyone help?

Hi, I feel the same too, still waiting for my bun to be old enough for it and i’m already worried about the procedure.

Your bunnies should be fine as long as you have a rabbit savvy vet. The chance of them getting reproductive cancer are above 85% when they’re 3 years old, compared to that the odds of something going wrong during the surgery are tiny. I know it’s scary, but it’s the right thing to do for them.

I agree with what Hazel is saying. It seems scary but its really the best choice for your rabbit’s health.

Ive been calling vets all day, to find the right one, and i did! It the Arizona exotic animal hospital i talked to a very nice lady who told me that they get about 2-8 bunnies in per DAY. They have only had one pass away, the bunny was older, and they didn’t find out that she has uterine cancer until they were in surgery, so I’m not to worried about that. and its only about 200 for the isofluorane, the spay, the checkup before the spay, the medicine shot before the spay for pain and then the meds to take home, and fluids!! I think thats pretty good for everything.

Well, I think that anytime you do a procedure, there is a risk. This is unavoidable. However, there are things you can do to minimize the risk. One is obviously getting a rabbit savy vet. This will increase the chances of success. Second, not getting her spayed due to fear of her passing under the knife is a big concern, but a greater concern would be for her to suffer cancer which would cut her life short. That would be a no brainer for me especially if it can be avoided.
