My recently adopted a male bunny and he got neutered a week and half ago. He did spray a few times before I adopted him and is still spraying light pee when I let him out to roam the house while I clean his litter box. He’s still in his pen because we are still litter box training him. Also I have been fostering a spayed female bunny who is litter trained so she is free to roam the house. Whenever my male bunny is out, he goes over to this one spot where she goes and sprays a bit of urine. I know that’s a territorial sign but will that fade once his hormones start subsiding? I would like to eventually bond the two. He’s about one to two years old and she’s only 6 months. Both are non aggressive when in the same room but he does tend to poop more outside his box when she and him and free in the house.

Most spraying behavior goes away after neutering. It usually takes several weeks after the neuter for bunny’s hormones to calm down. If you have somewhere’s else to let him run that doesn’t smell like her, that might help his hormones calm down.

Give it time. A week and a half is hardly enough time for the hormones to settle down.

It took my Henry a good ‘few’ weeks before he stopped spraying (thank goodness!) after being neutered, and he didn’t have a bunny friend – good grief! Lol!

Yep, give it up to 2 months before you start worrying…..

Agreed, it took my Clyde about 6-7 weeks before he stopped dribbling pee around Bonnie’s pen. As for the pooping, that will probably get better too with time. Clyde has gotten much better, though he still drops them around. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s the dominate one and reminding Bonnie that he is (now that they are bonded and housed together), or if it’s because Bumpy isn’t bonded to them and he is doing it for Bumpy’s sake.

Ok that’s good to hear! I was getting worried! Fingers crossed. He’s a wee bit slow on the litter training because he’s too worried about eating haha. My cute little hungry hungry hippo!
