        Hello guys,

I have an 11 year old bun that is battling bouts of acute sinusitis.  She’s quite the trouble bun – her bottom left incisor randomly broke off 2 years ago, around a year later it abscessed.  She’s now got a tooth root abscess.  Her left lacrimal duct is blocked with pus, she sneezes and is quite snotty.  Recently she’s been having bouts of acute sinusitis – she wheezes when she breathes and I can hear all the mucous swishing around in her sinus.

She’s been in and out of the vet every 2 weeks or so for the past few months – she’s on Duplocillin 2x weekly, Metacam daily, Lasix whenever the mucous is bad.  Due to her age the vet has advised against any surgical treatment.  I’ve read that some vets use Bisolvon in the UK to help break up mucous so it’s easier to pass, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase this in Canada?  I’ve asked my vet about this and she hasn’t heard of it.  Are there equivalent alternatives available here?

        Thanks for any help!

Looks to be several places you can get it. Like many products it was made for humans but can be used on some animals. I typed … buy bisolvin canada into google and got multiple positve hits. Bisolvin was originally made in Europe, the active ingredient is Bromhexine.

What about flushing the sinuses with saline?
