I haven’t posted on here in a long time. So long in fact, I don’t remember what my old log-in was. I had a lot of questions about my first bun, Miss Maggie, when I first got her. She was very difficult at times. She made me mad a lot. She wanted everything her way right when she wanted it. Big diva for sure! But most of all, for the last three years, she was my little world. We had some very good times together. She even liked to snuggle every once in a while. And her snuggles were the best.

A few months ago, right before Christmas, we got Maggie a friend, a hus-bun. We named him Buster. The shelter I adopted him from thought he was a girl, but he was definitely a boy! I adopted him a couple days after his neuter surgery, and his stitches came open after I brought him home and when I took him to the emergency vet that’s how I found out he was definitely boy! He had to wear a small cone for a day or two to let his incisions heal and he hated that. But he was a very laid back bunny. Didn’t care if it was loud, the vacuum never even phased him. He was amazing and very good for Maggie, who was in need of more companionship than our guinea pig, Hubert, could provide anymore. Maggie and Buster were inseparable these last few months. They bonded right away and definitely loved each other. It was rare to walk into their room and not see them snuggled up against each other. Maggie used to always hide her head under Buster’s belly, like he was protecting her.

But yesterday, tragedy happened. Our dog managed to get into their room. And now they are both gone. We took all the precautions to keep them safe. And yesterday, I missed just one of them. They were in their pen together but my dog pushed the pen over and got in. Maggie, I honestly think, was scared to death. I’ve read that bunnies can be scared to death. Buster put up more of a fight, though. He was the first one I found. I got home from work and I looked over to see their door was cracked open. I immediately went to check on them and when I opened the door all the way, there Buster was. He was lying there and strangely looked kind of peaceful. Maggie was still in the pen. She looked peaceful, too. She was lying there, with her eyes covered by one of her favorite toys. She wasn’t touched but she was definitely gone. Both of my precious bunnies are gone. I had them when I left in the morning and when I came home that afternoon, I didn’t. I’m so shocked and confused and I miss my precious bunnies immensely. I can’t even look at my dog. I don’t want to be anywhere near him. He took away these two sweet, innocent, beautiful creatures and I can never have them back. And I just really want them back. More than anything in the world.

They were very happy these last few months. I had caught them doing more than a few binkies. They were taken entirely too soon. I have to believe they are on Rainbow Bridge now, together, waiting for the time we can be reunited again. Mommy and Daddy miss you very much, Maggie and Buster. Until we meet again. (I’ve attached a picture of each of them. Buster is laying on the newspaper, that was when he was still in the shelter. And Maggie is laying next to her favorite pillow, that I always put a frozen water bottle in to help keep her cool.)

They sound like wonderful little bunnies. I’m so sorry that happened.

I’m so sorry. How awful. You know if course it’s not your dog’s fault really, but I too would’ve been so resentful if my dog did a thing like that. I hope you’ll love him again though. I hope Maggie and Buster will binky forever together in the meadows of bunny-heaven.
