        Hello all,

So after a week of ridiculous work, its time for my introduction. I figure I will start with a little about myself and then dive right into the main attraction– ms. Lilith herself.

So I am from North Carolina. Lived in the state all of my life, but love to travel. I am about to graduate from law school in 3 weeks  and then enter the Army as a JAG lawyer. Some odd facts: I LOVEEEE video games. Name any MMORPG and I have likely played it (my first love was World of Warcraft). At the same time I love sports, and lately its been all golfing. Nothing better than 9 holes, a couple brews, and a few friends in 70 degree weather . Lastly, as a poor student who can’t cook, I would say 90% of my meals are either frozen lean cuisines or ramen noodles. So the April Chat thread has me missing my parent’s cooking so much.

Now cue the one and only Ms. Lilith. I have been doing research on pets since the start of the school year. I have always wanted a pet, but dogs were too noisy and I loathe the idea of walking them daily. Cats simply aren’t very fun in my experience, and then came rabbits. A lot of work but from what I had read totally worth it. So I began looking at all of the SPCA’s and shelters within 100 miles for the perfect rabbit (I wanted to adopt), and my first two attempts at getting a rabbit ended up with me being a day late on adoption. But all things happen for a reason, and along came Lily, a 3 month old (now 4 months) dutch. She was rescued by a vet clinic, so I was able to get all of her annual exams and spaying done for the 60 dollar adoption fee.

I have found that spaying her so early seems to be great for her temperament. She is 4 months and she has yet to thump, not cage protective, and has never bitten anyone. She is very sweet but still a tad skittish. She will let me pet her for a good while, but still is not a fan of coming up to me without me first giving treats. She is a bit lazy  and prefers flopping and eating for numerous hours a day rather than running and tearing stuff apart. She hasn’t started her shed yet, but I am slowly getting her used to being picked up (once every other day), and now she no longer squirms to get away or be let down, she merely tolerates it, and accepts her treats. The only treats I give her are romaine lettuce, and for her 4 month bday I gave her her first Craisin and she went NUTS over it. So I am sure they are here to stay, but thats probably as far as I will get with treats for a while so as to not upset her.

She also is GREAT with the litter box. Not one pee incident, and she keeps 99% of poos in her litter box, with 1 every now and then at night (I think while she is sleeping). I also brought her to my parents house for the weekend where she met my sisters cat and my parents dog. NO territorial marking and she just loved being near other pets and playing to her hearts content. Even in the new environment, she was 100% for 4 days on her litter habits (maybe 1 or 2 stray poops near her bed?). I think the hay rack has a lot to do with it though. She also seemed to enjoy being around my whole family and our friends.

SO thats Lily, she’s awesome. I just hope she gets better at warming up to me, but I know its only been 2 weeks and to give her time. But now the problem is, HOW DO I STOP FROM GETTING A SECOND . She is awesome, but gah I would love a lop eared bunny to go along with her. However, given how great Lily has been, I am not sure a second bunny is due for a while.

          Welcome!
Lily is adorable, and sounds very well behaved-a lot of us here will be jealous!
How to not get a second? There is no way to stop the bunny fever once you are contaminated…
