I have recently adopted a 3 month old mini-lop that grunts and lunges when I clean her litter box. Also she accidentally got out of her designated play area ( kitchen, dinning room and foyer) and into the living room under the recliner. I was trying to get her out and she grunted and lunged/bit me. I’ve blocked the area off and she persistently tries to escape to that area. When I try to detour her, she grunts and lunges again. She is very sweet otherwise but too young to be spayed. Any suggestions on how to stop this???? She has a HUGE cage/ condo and her play area has lots of hidey huts and loads of toys for her to play with and to go if she gets scared. I just don’t understand why she does this. The girl who previously owned her and gave her up to me kept her in a tiny cage with no toys, just a toilet paper roll not even a food bowl! Any ideas?

        Thanks,

        S.

My female mini lop is almost 2 and does this when I clean her cage as well. Or she will do it when I go to pet her threw the cage, which is her way of playing. But I was told that she does it when I clean because she is territorial.

I have a mixed rabbit with upright ears who does this. I still can’t tell if she’s being playful or bratty.
She does it at times when I think she’s a little hyper. I’ve found that if I give her something to lunge at she gets it out of her system and then is calm with me once again. She grunts so much I call her my little warthog! My other buns (a mini lop) never makes noises so it’s a funny contrast to me.
