I just picked up my 5 month old holland lop Turbo from the vet today after her spay surgery. The vet told me everything went fine and I was so glad to hear that. When I got home, I picked her up to inspect the incision site, I then noticed that a patch of fur on her front legs are missing and the area is kind of wet. Turbo kept licking the area also, there’s no flakes or dandruff..just some redness. What can it be? I am positive that it wasn’t there before..

Don’t worry, the vet probably shaved those spots for the purpose of putting in drips and other meds. The licking is probably because the shaved spots feel strange.

Thanks! Is it ok to let her run around indoor 2 days post op? The vet recommended to keep her in a small confined space, however she kept wanting to come out..

Restrict her area with an Xpen and make sure there is nothing she can jump or climb up on. That is the one thing you want to avoid, any hopping up ramps or levels as it will hurt her tummy where the incision is, it’s just like a human after a hysterectomy, care needs to be taken to avoid lifting, bending or strenuous movement so the the area can heal without any additional trauma.

Possibly start with an area about 5 foot square.
