So im new to this forum, only joined to find out if my bunny situation is a problem.

I got three female dwarf bunnies about 4 months ago, two of them are sisters and the other one is just their litter mate. They have been fine and happy since i got them but today i noticed something.

I saw my one female humping the other (The two sisters who re the biggest). I git worried so i sexed them to make sure they are females. They all had this like ‘Y’ slit, so hopefully thats female. The bunny being humped seemed so calm and didnt care that her sister was humping her. After, they began grooming each other like nothing happened.

Is this behaviour normal, should i be worried about anything?

Is it possible that the bonds they have now will break? Please help

Note: They are getting fixed in a few days

From what I learned over the internet, females hump to show dominance. My cousin’s two male buns hump each other and still groom each other (both not neutered yet). She’s had the second bun for a month but the humping still happens and they’re still bonded it seems. The new bun is only 3 months old while the older one is 5 months old.

It’s normal for a female to hump to show dominance. You should be careful though and make sure they don’t hump each other’s faces. Pumpkin got nipped by Rocky this way and it made her bleed. Could have been a lot worse than it was.

How old are they? While siblings get along great when they’re young, once puberty hits all bets are off and there are no guarantees they will continue to get along. Females tend to become territorial and you could be seeing the start of this. The best thing you could do is separate them (before somebun gets hurt), get them spayed, let them heal and hormones dissipate, then start re-bonding them.
