So this morning I woke up and Nimmy was just lounging in his cage, most days he’s chewing on the bars to get out but not all days. So I figured today must be one of his lazy days, I opened the cage before I started getting ready for work and I noticed he.. I don’t even know, it looked like he had trouble getting out of his hut somehow. Like, his butt was out and he scrambled a bit when he backed out. Since he broke his leg back in August and it’s never fully healed, Nimmy can be clumsy sometimes. I noticed after he got out (if he WAS stuck it was only for a second) his hay mat was halfway blocking the entrance to the hut, so I figured he got his bad paw caught on that while trying to back out.

I sat down with him, gave him his favorite treat (I’ll do this if I’m ever concerned about his health) he ate most of it, but left a bite. Tried to give it to him and he refused. When he hopped away he was a little off-balance. Since he had two inner ear infections before which caused dizziness I immediately thought he must have another ear infection. I had a little bit of his nausea medicine leftover so I tried to give that to him, but he was refusing once again. But then I noticed the meds were expired so I threw it out. Nimmy didn’t have a head tilt at all, just a little off balance. I continued watching him and after a couple minutes he seemed back to normal. Since I was only working a four hour shift I decided to still go into work. I cleaned his litterbox, refilled his water bottle and filled his bowl with treats, hay and pellets before leaving.

When I got home I checked his food and water, he’s been eating and drinking. I let him out, and he still seems to be acting pretty normal. Maybe he just hurt his bad leg (I don’t know if it will still cause him pain or not?) when he got stuck-ish in his hut and it just hurt for a couple minutes. He always favors his bad leg, never putting full pressure on it, and he often tucks it under his body when he lays down. So I can’t really tell if he’s still in pain or not. I Googled some average bunny pain signs, he doesn’t match them. But I’m still concerned. He’ll let me pet him, right now he’s just laying around like normal. But he refused his favorite treat. I did give him celery, he ate it right up. Maybe he’s mad at me for something? Or he just doesn’t like his treats anymore? The weather has been a bit crappy lately, does that have to do with anything? Oh and he’s eaten a bit of his litter, he’s done it before but he refused a treat for the litter, but when I came with the celery he ate the celery.

UGH NIMMY JUST TELL ME WHAT’S GOING ON, I CAN’T DECIPHER YOUR RIDDLES! Do you think anything is wrong with him? I’ve been looking up standard bunny-sickness signs and he doesn’t really match anything. He’s still pooping, eating, drinking, no runny nose, etc. He just seems a little different to me? But I might just be over-worrying.

        Help?

This morning I woke up to a normal Nimmy. He was binkying this morning and was totally happy. I’m not worried about him now, but if he goes back to his unusual behavior, I’ll take him to the vet.

I would just watch him closely for now. He may have just got his paw catch like you thought.

my bunny refuses treats when she’s mad at me. Maybe he was just in a grumpy mood. It happens to mine. But it could also just be because she’s a girl……
