Ever since I got Stanley he’s had dandruff and my previous vet had said that if it had been mites it would be EVERYWHERE on his body. So that was dismissed.

I recently started going to a different vet. 2 weeks ago I brought him to have his nails clipped and they had to put him in a burrito.. He won’t let me :/ the vet said this could have triggered the issue..

So I was giving him his nightly pets on the head and noticed a patch of hair missing under his left ear. It wasn’t and isn’t red its just got a little bit of dry skin look to it. I wasn’t going to take him to the vet because I thought maybe it was just dry skin because it’s been so dry where I live. Needless to say I did bring him. My vet said it could either be walking dandruff/mites or ringworm. So she said shed treat for both. She gave him a dose of revolution for the mites and gave me an anti fungal liquid to put in the affected areas. She showed me on her computer what ringworm looks like and I have to say I don’t even see how it could be. The area is not red. It does bother him but not to the point where he’s constantly at his ears.

He’s still eating drinking and playing. I do notice he’s been craving more attention/head pets. I hope it’s not because he wants to be itched.
I guess my question is what is going on With him? Has anyone has this happen. I just gave him some antifungal and it looks like the other ear is now starting to lose some hair too. Could be because of the liquid I’ve been applying. His hair is all jacked up lol.

I did opt to have the culture done to find out if he has ringworm. Can you say $$$$$$. Lol
Not sure how long that will take
Again his symptoms are hair loss under his ears since he’s a Holland lop and quite a good amount of dandruff :/
I just feel bad and doesn’t seem that the Revolution did anything. The vet said sometimes you need to do another dose of revolution.

        Thanks all!

I don’t have advice on the hair loss…but I do know that they cannot completely rule out ringworm for 21 days; so your vet likely won’t give you a for sure answer on that for a few weeks!

Have you noticed the red, itchy looking spots anywhere else? Any bumps on your bun’s nose or chin? Red spots on private parts? Could you post a picture?

No, no red spots at all. It’s just hair loss and dandruff. I tried posting a pic but it just keeps saying it’s too big of a file. I’m taking it in my iphone

Sometimes if you take a screen shot of the picture, that will size it down enough to post. I asked about the other areas as one of my buns had rabbit syphilis, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the case if there’s no red spots anywhere. I’m sure someone will be along w/ more info than I have!
