Hello, I’m a new member though I’ve browsed through these forums before.

I have a quick question though! Tomorrow my apartment building is having a mandatory bug bombing and I’m trying to figure out what to do about my buns! We have to stay out of the apartment for at least 3 hours after the treatment. In my room I’ve got them set up in a storage cube grid “cage” x-pen combo. I’m thinking I’ll find a way to set it up outside on the patio. I’m trying to figure out how I would make it predator proof though! I’m worried about stray cats or dogs.

I’m also very worried about afterwords. I don’t know how toxic the chemical residue will be. I plan to put all of their stuff in large black garbage bags sealed tightly. Maybe the food and carefresh I’ll put outside to be safe. Then afterwords I’ll probably still give everything a good rinsing with hot water. Ahh! There’s just so much stuff to worry about though! Not just the bunnies but all my person stuff too. I don’t know how to protect my bed and all my furniture from this “rain” of toxic chemical.

I really wish they wouldn’t do this, it’s stressful and doesn’t even work! But we have no choice.

Has anyone else gone through this? Anybody have any tips to make this less stressful?

Do you have any responsible friends or family members that the bunnies can stay with for the day? That’s what I did when the apartment I lived in was being treated for pests – I packed up the bunnies and they went on a trip to “grandma’s house” – my parents, LOL.

I’d also take all their stuff out of the apartment and keep it in your car or you could probably leave that stuff out on the patio, maybe in a Rubbermaid tub or something.

Hi! Thank you very much for your suggestion! I saw it but did not get a chance to reply, because as you can imagine it’s been a very long busy day and I’m extremely tired.

I actually live with my parents, and all my friends and other relatives live too far away. The weather was too crappy to stay on the patio like I had planned, so we ended up packing everyone (2 buns, budgie & doggy) up into the garage.  That was NOT my first choice because we share a garage with our neighbor who’s a mechanic. I was worried about car fumes, oil spills or stuff idk, but we cleaned up and left the garage door open while we were in there. Luckily the pest control guy came early in the morning so we were able to get it all done and over with before I had to leave for work.

I put everything in HUGE thick black trash bags and left it on the patio.

It’s been a stressful day for the animals and me but we’re glad it’s over and we can rest now.

OH! and also I found out the pest control guy also has a bunny! He said a brown and white mini lop named Smore he’s had for 5 years. I thought that was neat, and he was very understanding about me being worried for the buns!
