Roger use to have a bunny basket. He’d occasionally dig at it, but otherwise ignored it. Then I put his wooden hidy on top of it and within about a month he’d decimated it. It was left there a bit longer, but as it was no longer so fun he started to become naughtier in other ways (who tries to bite the horizontal middle of a skirting board? There isn’t even anything to grip!). He also dug straight through his litter mat which has also been replaced.

So I bought him an extra durable dog bed in the hopes it would last longer, I’m not sure he’s all that keen on scratching it as being a bit firmer he seems to have decided it’s suitable for laying on. Still, it’s water resistant which will make cleaning easier.

Does your bunny build burrows in his bed? How often do you replace it?

(Also, we’re currently without a litter tray because we forgot to pick up his tray from the person who was kind enough to host him overnight. So that’s why his carrier is in there.)

It kind of depends on how durable the bed is. A bed like that my rabbits would immedietly chew up within the first week. They also have a tendancy to pee on things like that. For my buns, it would take about a month for it to not resemble a bed, and maybe a little longer for it to be actually usuable.

I just wanted to say awwww…Roger looks so cozy!! We don’t have any beds for our buns. They do have fleece blankets that they like to lay on though. Our are not diggers or chewers (knock on wood!!!) so we got lucky!

Kieko has a fuzzy padded dog crate bed that lays on top of a hay mat. She also has fleece blankets. All get vaccuumed every night and washed/changed out every few weeks to a month depending in how dirty they get.

Marlee’s a chewer (chewed holes in a Kong bed within minutes) so no beds for the M&Ms. Their floor is covered with fleece and they also have extra pieces of fleece around their area. All fleece get vaccuumed nightly, the floor fleece changed out monthly, and the rest of the fleece changed whenever dirty.

No bed for pepper. We tried just lining her pen with fleece, but he kept trying to push it out of the pen, until he was just lying on the cold plastic. That’s the way his likes it, then i’m going to let it go.
