My rabbit, Butterscotch, Is now about 6 months old now, And she is shedding like all hell, Ill pet her and a whole other bunny will appear on my hand… I fear she might have mites? i used to use pine bedding. And it looks like her hair may be thinning a little bit, but it could just be me being paranoid. please help? when will it stop? she has a balanced diet (pellets, constant supply of hay, water, kale, dandelion leaves, and leafy lettuce). am i doing something wrong? i put vitamin drops in her water. so i don’t know what i am doing wrong.

It’s that time of year-twice a year they ‘blow their coats’ -essentially shedding most of their fur. It’s quite insane, and you might even notice patterns or bald spots during the shed.

You can post pictures so we could be sure, but what you’re describing sounds exactly like what mine do!

It does sound like normal bunny shed. It can be an ordeal but doesn’t signify anything wrong with the bunny.

If it’s mites, she’d shed in patches esp around her shouldblades, base of neck and/or ears and there would be dandruff and irritation of the skin. If you’re not seeing that, it’s probably just a spring molt.
