The hubby and I tried out “Rosey” as a name today… and although we like it, it just doesn’t seem to fit her. We are now accepting new bunny name suggestions!
Aside from being a cuddle bun, what’s her personality like?
She likes to wedge herself against people, bookshelves, her cage, anything to feel cozy when she stretches out for a rest.
She’s not used to attention or lots of out-of-cage time, so she still thinks she needs to run around and make the most of it.. wearing herself out in a manner of minutes… then once she pants and rests she goes back to begging for attention.
If you’re petting her or brushing her and stop before she’s ready (apparently she’s never ready for it to stop) she’ll make a little honk and thump her foot before shoving her head back under your hand, foot or leg.
She loves digging. She has a pile of pillowcases that have moved around the whole room just to be drug back to a pile next to her cage. She also enjoys her new sisal ball (it has a bell inside) and she tosses it around as well.
She also likes to groom people. She spent 10 minutes going back and forth between me and the hubby just licking hands and arms while we talked about her.
She’s very playful, and always in desperate need of attention. Head rubs make her melt to the floor every time and she wants to meet EVERYBODY.
What a gorgeous gray coat! She sounds like a sweetheart, and looks very feminine too…… maybe something like “Ashley” or “Ash” for short (we love human names for our animals) or Misty …. or Maggie. (for whatever reason, she looks like a Maggie to me).
Let’s see….there’s always good old Water ship Down names – Hazel, Hyzenthlay, Clover, Dandelion.
Lilac comes to mind. Beatrix. Pebbles (because she’s gray like a little stone)
Parsley, Basil.
What are you guys “into”? Sometimes names can come from those things
Tilly!
Kiki or Ella
Aww!
I think she looks like an April or a Chloe or a Bree… Yea I’m bad with names! I like Tilly LBJ!
Maybe some more floral names… Petunia, Daphne, Violet, Marigold, Iris, Hyacinth, Rosemary
Ermine. She looks like royalty.
Phoebe!
Melody, Ash, Holly,
Hope this isn’t disrespectful to LEL’s bridge bunny, but when I saw this thread, my first thought was the name Asha.
Got this from the web:
The name Asha is a Persian baby name. In Persian the meaning of the name Asha is: Protector of fire (i.e. SoulUrge Number: 2. People with this name have a deep inner desire for love and companionship, and want to work with others to achieve peace and harmony.
Sorry for the silence, but my bed called to me last night.. and I am about to get coffee. lol
I kind of like Tilly.. or maybe Tula or Toully? When we name pets in our house we try to find something that we like, but that also the animal likes as well.
I had considered Beatrix (like Beatrix Potter to go with Peter Cottontail), but it seems a bit formal for her. What’s more is when I asked her if she liked Beatrix she gave me an angry huff and ignored me. lol She’s definitely a “Lady” but more like a toddler-princess that doesn’t know any better than to run and cuddle strangers rather than wait and be proper.
Peter was Peter from day one and seemed to enjoy it. Zoey liked her name more than we did for a while… and although we tried a couple other things she responded most favorably to Zoey so she kept the name. I think no matter what I like, what I’ll end up doing is running the names by the hubby and the bunny and see what sticks. It’s not uncommon with our pets for them to go a while without a proper name.. though
I remember growing up that we had a kitten my Mom named Eek that “renamed herself” Tummy… because she would come into the room, roll on her back and my Mom would say “Awe, look at the Tummy,” which the cat liked more than her name, and even came when tummy was mentioned in random conversation… so she became Tummy.
I just saw your post, JR (not sure why it didn’t show before).
Asha is a lovely name, and I’ll make sure to run it by her to see if she likes it. (if LEL doesn’t mind)
Like I said, since they have to live with it, we give our furbabies full chance to vito or prefer a name.
JR— I had the same thought, but didn’t want to tread on people toes so to speak, so just decided to give “Ash” as a suggestion.
Her dewlap looks like part of a fancy outfit. Makes me think she should have a very dignified name.
I never thought about asking the pet about the name. I must be really running slow lately because I’m usually the one to suggest talking with the bunny! That being said, I don’t think Moshi or Kieko like their names, but Marlee does respond to hers. I didn’t have a say in naming Kieko, but I knew I should have pushed harder for Marley and Peaches for my lops!
It does look like it Diamond, doesn’t it?
What about Charlotte, Rosemary, Rochelle?
A family member just saw the pic and said that you should name her Velveteen.
The dewlap looks very elegant and expensive. I first thought Lady jane Grey, but the real Lady Jane Grey was beheaded, so it’s kind of a sad name =/
I thought about Cinderella (cinder for the color and you and hubby are the glass slipper/prince) but you’d end up calling her Cindy.

Love it! and no, not disrespectful at all! I’m sure my Asha would be honored to have another beautiful bun with the same name.
Yay CT like Tilly! Go Team Tilly! =D
How dare you start this thread without ‘me’ CT??? Lol….
I was going to suggest Charlie – but I have to admit I ‘love’ Maggie for her….. Maggie May!
Yep, Maggie!
Giggle…..
Eh, Maggie just reminds me of Maggie Moos. I’ve never had to chew ice cream before, but boy did I have to do a lot of chewing when we went there. o_O
I think she’d be a good Magdalena.
AH, Rod Stewart has nothing to do with bunny names.
Go Tilly!
Haha and when she does something funny, you can say “You tilly wabbit!”
(I crack myself up lol)
I’ll remember this BM!!! (evil eye) Lol!
And you crack me up too BM – that is funny! Ha ha ha ha…….
I am loving all the suggestions. but I have sad news! (though not definite) The hubby is trying to shoot down lots of names, including Tilly and Maggie. Instead, today he is pushing for “Tuney” (spelling debatable). He says that it fits her because she “honks” and he’s never heard a bunny do that before. She waits until he’s on the floor and then runs up to his ear and honks little tunes in his ear, apparently. lol
I’m still running names past him, because he has never really had any real say in which animals end up living with us and/or what their names are… he just says okay; and he really seems to be getting attached to her quickly. He turned down Asha because he thought it was “Asia” and then couldn’t separate the two I guess. At this rate she’s going to start thinking that her name is “Baby Girl” and that just won’t do… Zoey will get jealous!
I’m going to head to bed ( I should have been there hours ago) but I will let you know if we have any progress tomorrow. I’ll also post more pictures!
Amorie
Lucretia/Lucrezia
Cosette
Letitia/Laetitia (Roman goddess of celebration, happiness, and gaiety.) Possible nicknames: Tish & Letty
Genevieve
Wyn
I can’t believe he wasn’t fussed on Maggie – WHY??? Ha ha ha ha…..
I just realised, my hubby has NEVER named anything we have ever owned, lol!
PS – And he NEVER will! Ha ha!
PPS – Tell him if he calls her Maggie he can sing to her. That has to be tempting? LOL!
Maybe she’s singing Brimful of Asha in hubby’s ear and he just haven’t been able to make out the words?
She’ll understand the words to Maggie May better bam…..
He he he he he……
LOL, Andi!! Team Maggie? I think you’re trying to instigate the name wars again!
If that’s the case. ~~Team Amorie (or any of the other names I’ve listed lol)~~
Team Petunia here. That also incorporates a little of Peter’s Daddy’s choice.
I don’t see anyone’s avatar’s supporting a team MissG and Roberta???
Me, start a name war??? Nooooo MissG!
You all know when CT posts I am going to call her lady bunny Maggie…. LOL!
ONLY on BB!!! Love it, ha ha ha!
Lady Jane?
Maggie seems to me slightly…ordinary. It has none of the power and glamour and opulence of the name Manny. Manny is after all the gold standard of bunny names. I think this obviously noble bunny lady deserves a name with some splendour and lustre. Like Manny, but girly, like.
I couldn’t agree with you more bam – WE did well choosing the name Manny!!! He he he….
Ok, I give in….. (I know, everyone is shocked, lol! Don’t tell JR!). What about Charlie???
If I had another daughter (yes, a real life human baby) I would call her Charlie! Charlie Girl!
When your hubby is asleep CT – whisper it into his ear over and over…. He will wake up and say ‘Charlie’!
And no everyone! That is NOT cheating!!! It’s just clever!
Oh! How about Duchess? Its the name of the lady cat in the Aristocats. Its very regal and lady-like.
I have to admit, I’m against Team Tuney. Makes me think of Tuna. Lol
LOL again BM!!!
LOL, Brunosmama! Can you imagine a bunny named Tuna?
CT- You said you liked Tilly, so just start calling her that. It’s okay, you know you want to.
Go Team Tilly!
CHARLIE!
If I was to get another bunny – which I am NOT ever, regardless of being male or female I would could call it Alice!
I wish I had of thought of this before I got Henry – his name would be Alice!!!
(I don’t expect anyone to get this, except maybe BM??? We’ll see……).
AH all I can think of is Alice Cooper!! Lol
CT, it worked for me. I kept caller Butternut her name and the hubby finally said “you’re right, she looks like a Butternut.” Yay power of suggestion! Lol
PS go Team Tilly! I would change my avatar, but I have to keep reminding myself no new critters! Lol
Oh BM! Don’t let me down…. Smokie’s hit song ‘Alice’….
Edit to ADD – Sorry… Living next door to Alice.
Well, Alice Cooper was from that era too, right? Close counts! Lol
Yesss, sigh! LOL! You let me down BM…… look it up on youtube, make sure you watch the version where the audience sing’s out (add’s to the lyric’s). Do only Aussie’s do that??? Ha ha ha ha!
You’ll then get why I should have called Henry Alice – if some authority knocked on my door and ask if Alice the bunny lived here – I would reply with…. well, you see it. He he he he he!
By the way, we have about 10 song’s that we do that too….. it must be an Aussie thing??? LOL!
If you still haven’t named her, here are my 2 suggestions:
Cozy (because you described her at first as loving to be that way, so it might make a good name.)
Melody (because Tuney would end up just Fish, and it fits his reason, but is a prettier name.)
She is so pretty, btw.
Yep, I can’t see Tuney without thinking Tuna. Now Arnold Schwarzenegger is in my head saying “Its not a Tuna! Its not a Tuna!”
I love the Melody idea. It would be a lovely second choice is she doesnt approve of Tilly.
lol. i think because of this conversation, the next fish I get will be named Tuney… just so we can put a little picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger yelling on the side of the tank.
I was poking at the hubby today that we needed a solid decision on her name soon because I just keep calling her our bunny girl. I ran name suggestions by him and he explained to me why certain ones didn’t work. Apparently he has some poor feelings tied to the name Maggie, so even though the name is nice it isn’t for him. As for Charlie, I love the name but we tend to retire names of pets in our family once they pass; and we lost a Charlie only last year. I did get him to cave though! He has decided that he has reconsidered and Tilly is a cute name, and that her name is now Tilly!
Oh no Cottontail! LBJ will not be fit to live with now! What have you and the hubby done?!? Did you ask her if she liked the name?
(I think Pete and Tilly’s cute, but do not tell LBJ!)
Sorry JR, but Tilly liked the name so much that she actually responded and came when called, and the hubby loves being able to call and cuddle the bunny. lol
But what do we do about LBJ?!?!?
I’m sorry, JR, if I’ve inadvertently created a monster… but… but… cute bunny?
Yay!!!! Go Team Tilly! Wow, I am on a roll! =D
Off to name more bunnies!
Ahem. Yes, definitely cute bunny. Yes, a monster…..!
Woo! Win! Go Team Tilly!
*basks in the glow of victory*
I suppose Tilly will work.Your husband gets to feel accomplished now that he’s gotten to name a pet.
Not nearly as cute as Amorie or Cosette though. Ya know, just saying.
Now that she has a name, we really need more pics so we can decide how well the name fits her and how well she’s settling in . . … (seriously, lets see more Tilly piccies!)
Tilly!
That’s super-cute! You tilly li’l labbit!
I guess Team Tilly and Team Asha could maintain neutrality?
Congrats! Tilly is adorable!
More piccies are definitely needed!
I guess I’m a little late for all the naming contests?
That’s what happens when you miss a day and half of BB!
LOL, Moxie, a lot can happen on BB in that amount of time.
LOL! I agree – LBJ is NOT gonna let us hear the end of this….. ha ha ha ha!
But being serious, what a lovely name for a beautiful bunny – well chosen CT!
You’re just jealous Andi. =p
Lol!
She’s gorgeous and sounds extremely loveable.
Welcome Tilly!
