So my rabbits spends most of her day sitting and sleeping in her litter box. She will come out for short times to be pet or fed treats but other than that she just sits in her litter box and eats and sleeps.

She used to come out and stay out a lot more, but ever since I moved her pellet bowl into her litter box, she started spending more time there. I also recently switched the flooring in her cage from blanket+peepads to a stick on vinyl. I still have a good portion of her cage floor covered with a soft blanket though.

I also have a cardboard box over the litter box, not sure if this is causing her to stay inside the box more often or not.

Anyway, how do I encourage her to come out of the litterbox and play more often?
She also doesn’t come out of her cage that often. She’s hopped out maybe three times total and the gone back in quickly after. Shes always sniffing around as if she wants to come out though.

I wish my rabbit loved her litter box! Usually (with my bun as an exception) they like to stay in their litter boxes. It is good because this means she feels safe in there.

I guess thats a good thing. But I set up such a nice soft sleeping area outside the box, I wish she’d use it

If that’s her spot it’s no problem is it?
My buns like sitting in their litterbox too

Does her nice sleeping spot have a box over it too? They love to be in burrows. And I have heard they love to hang out in their litter boxes, but it is kind-of nasty. However, exposure therapy and all that…you get used to it. Mine does it on and off. I’m glad they like to clean themselves so much!

Megabunny may be onto something. My lops will flop anywhere, but they always sleep in their tunnel haven. Moshi will even drag the end of the tunnel around so you can’t see him if he’s sleeping and doesn’t want to be disturbed.

oh yeah I do have a cardboard box over the litter box
But actually good news (kind of) she’s gotten use to the new flooring so shes coming out of the box more often now.
And she’s coming out of the cage a lot too but only if I put a blanket in front of the door. For some reason she refuses to step on carpet??

I was wondering if you had a box over the sleeping area,as maybe she would sleep there more readily if she could hide away
Weird about the carpet. That’s a new one
