First of all..It’s been a week since Jude got neutered and everything went perfectly. He does weight 3.6 pounds at almost 7 months old and I think that’s a bit normal. Also, I’ve been saving up money to get Jude a new cage for a little over a month now and as of now I have almost 200 dollars..(it might be more, haven’t counted it in a while) and the cage I’m wanting to get him is almost 5 when you add shipping. It’s a 3 level leithpetwerks cage and would be perfect for him because when I move in with my boyfriend (in about 4 months) he will have to stay in his cage all the time..(I’m going to sneak and let him out when my boyfriends away..shhhh! XD) He lives in an apartment type thing where it’s a house split in half and he lives in 1/2 of it but the person he rents from allows cats and dogs but if it’s anything other than that it has to stay in a cage..which won’t be a problem with a 3 level but I know we will both miss the cuddles. Also, me and my boyfriend are planning on vacationing this summer with his family and this fall with just us. When we go this fall we’ve already said that if the cabin doesn’t allow pets we could get his brother to watch his cat Leia and my rabbit Jude but..with the beach it’s going to be a little more tricky..because his brother would be going to the beach with us and I don’t trust just anyone with my furbaby. They’re most likely either going to get a few hotel rooms for everyone or get a beach house but if it doesn’t allow pets what do we do? I don’t have anyone that I would trust to take care of my bun and I’m not even really happy about his brother watching him if needed but I don’t know what else to do.. even most hotels that allow pets don’t allow rabbits because there are dogs and other animals at the hotel and it might be a risk..but I just don’t know what else to do.

Look around for a petsitter in your area.

Aside from the beach and cabin, even a 3 story LP condo doesn’t have enough run space for a bun to be in all the time. Could you get a couple of xpens and attach them together for Jude? It takes up more floor space, but you will have a much happier bunny and it would still qualify as a cage.

The thing is I’m still going to let him out daily for at least an hour with the 3 level cage. There really isn’t room for 2 or even 1 xpen in the one bedroom. It will be only for a short time though because we’re going to look at houses soon after and I am planning on Jude having his own room in our house.

That should be ok. Just curious, any way to attach an xpen to the condo while you all are not in the bedroom for periods of time (ex. at work) and then detach it when you’re going to be in and out of the bedroom?

There are a couple of other options if you can’t find a petsitter. Does your vet board animals, and if so, do they have a small animal room to board your rabbit in? If you have any rabbit rescues close to you or in the vicinity of your vacation areas, you could see if they offer boarding.

Calling your vet to see if they board or if they recommend a pet sitter is a great idea!
