Provided the bondong process works out (fingers crossed) I would like to make a new hutch/home for our two rabbits.  Evee and Rollo are about the same size (she’s a bit bigger at 5lbs), but Evee is almost 9yrs old.  I would like to make a two level hutch, but my husband is concerned that she won’t be able to make it up a ramp or stairs.  I found a pucture of a little two level staircase built for guinea pigs that I think could work, maybe at a ratio of 1″ up and 2″ across.  What do you think? What are your experiences with older bunnies and their mobility?

        Thanks!

Maybe if it’s carpeted and the stairs are wider and longer. But otherwise I would recommend a carpeted ramp as long as it’s not a steep angle.

It depends in the rabbit I guess but my rabbit is 9.5 and I used a seagrass mat on top of coroplast on top of a NIC grid and he does fine on it, but he really just prefers the lower level. He only goes up once in a while. Carpet might work too…mine is a major chewer though so I used the mat. It gives him a good grip. Just make sure it is wide enough. His ramp is 14″ wide. The mat doesnt cover the whole thing but the width helps so he doesnt fall off.
