So Artemis was spayed last Saturday…..and really has been super lovey all week. Well last night was different. She was tearing thru the house, chewing on EVERYTHING, getting on my couch and digging(she has never been on the couch), AND SHE BIT MY ANKLE;( What the heck is going in??!

Well sometimes it can take a month or so (not sure the EXACT time, and if it’s only for the males) for all of the hormones ect. to leave the body…

She has always been a super laid back bun. This behavior is weird to me;(

Maybe the spay just is causing her hormones to be a little wacky until they’re all gone…?

I have seen people report disconcerting issues lately right after their surgeries, but it doesn’t seem to take long for them to go back to their original lovey selves with patience and love and “tincture of time.”

For 4 to 6 weeks after spay, female bunnies fall somewhere between a teenage girl and a menopausal woman. Both can be very scary and unpredictable! Once everything levels out, things should be much better!

I know what you’re talking about, our bun was spayed on Tuesday and a couple of days later while trying to give her vegies she lunged and grunted at my hand something she has never done before, she too has always been a super lovely rabbit. I assume her hormones are all out of whack and think I might be slightly blamed for the pain and stress caused, she hates being touched and runs from my hand too which is very out of character but I think she just keeps expecting me to grab her to check stitches, put her cone back on or drag her back to the vet, I have some serious sucking up to do to get back in her good books lol

Hehe when Powder was neutered he started chewing stuff/acting weird. I missed my angel rabbit. After a month or so he went back to normal though. Just be sure to not reinforce any of the bad behaviors.

It’ll be interesting (well, for us) to hear how each of them responds
