OK, as a spin off from farts. Harley was better yesterday, but today he’s making noise again. Now he’s hiccuping…sorta…I don’t know. He makes this loud sound, kind of like letting air squeal out of a ball on, then I can hear him swallow hard right afterwards, like you would a hiccup. I tried more simethicone, that just seemed to make him mad. I rubbed his tummy. Nothing seems to help. Bruno is even licking his tummy. When he makes this noise, he arches his back, like he’s doing a dry heave. Darn bunny! He has a vet appointment at 10a tomorrow. If anyone has suggestions on how to help til then. Thanks!

UPDATE: We took Harley to the vet today. Which of course by the time we went, he was acting fine. Little bugger. But the vet said we did the right thing by force feeding him, said it helped get him going again. He wasn’t sure what may have caused it though. The vet also gave Bruno all sorts of love over how cute she is. She came along for moral support. So alls well that ends well.

          Yes. Rabbits hiccup.

Pete’s hiccups are just like if you got them; you notice the little “hic” sound and the quick-head/chest-bounce that goes on simultaneously… He’ll get hiccup fits that last from a couple seconds to a several minutes. I’ve found the most effective way to alleviate his hiccups is by getting him to drink something… which is usually water spiked with a little juice for incentive.

I’m not really sure what else to tell you in this case. Hopefully it is just hiccups… I think if it’s something that doesn’t happen consistently you might try to get a video of him doing it to show to your vet to clarify, but he’s doing it pretty consistently they should be able to tell you more. Keep an eye on his box and behavior, and let us know how his appointment goes!

{{Harley}} I hope he feels better and has a good visit.

Thanks CT I will keep the juice bit in mind.

I moved him to a spot in the bathroom. Its hard to monitor his input/output when he lives with a giant slob. Lol At least its quiet in there and I can see more what’s going on.

Well, he has gone into full eating/drinking is overrated mode. So I syringed him some water and a pumpkin/apple juice mix. He pokes at some hay. Overall he’s pissy about the whole ordeal, which I think is a good sign. I’m gonna feed/water every couple hours so hopefully some poops will show up soon. He is peeing fine.

BM — I remember seeing some videos on the web of bunnies with hiccups. Hope he gets over whatever is bothering him soon.

Yeppers. It can be a little alarming the first time you see it.

Ugh. Well, after a couple hours of syringing things, he’s eating and pooping! And no more weird noises. Im glad he’s seeing the vet tomorrow, but tonight seems to be stable. Darn bunnies! Lol

He’s fine actually. The vet said he checks out fine. Not sure what happened. I just think he wanted the attention lol.
