I just got a baby bunny from my breeder! I’m trying to give him time to adjust. He is a broken gray mini lop!  I think I’m in love! A quick question:

How can I help him adjust? He’s already pooped and peed, so I know that he has a healthy GI stasis, but is there anything I can do to help him get used to the new home and owner quicker or easier?

I’ll try to figure out how to post a picture!

And also, what are some good names for him?

Aww he sounds like a sweetie! I would say for a little while (like a day) be quiet around him, but after that just act normally so he gets used to the sounds of your home.
Here are some names off the top of my head:
            Gary
            Arthur
            Silkie
            Gandalf

              Hagrid
              Greystoke

Wish I was better at coming up with names. I’m sure he’s breathtakingly lovely!

As for adjusting: Let him come to you, not you to him. Give him plenty of hay and unlimited pellets of good quality. Let him explore his and your home at his own pace. Start potty-training right away by putting poop + sth that he’s peed on in a litter-box. Place the litter-box where he already has chosen to pee, that’s ususally the best way. They opt for a place, not the litter-box per se.

Offer him a hidey-house made of a cardboard box etc with 2 entrances/exits, a place where he can seek refuge if he feels the need. They very often want a place that has a roof (for rabbits, threats often come from above, so it’s an instinct for them to seek out places that have “roofs”). Rabbits also like to lie on top of things that are elevated off the floor.

I hope you will figure out how to post pics of him!

Congratulations on your new bun! We need pictures!
Not sure what his personality is like yet, but for some reason I’m thinking wise-man names.
                Magus
                Toshiro
                Hewett
                Gregory
                Archimedes
                Abner

I am glad you have gotten a bunny companion!

I would recommend getting him neutered. He will be a lot healthier and happier!

It would be better to give him unlimited hay and for now 1/2 a cup of pellets.

When it come to names, what does he act like? What does he look like? What does he do? Doe he eat a lot?

He is such a curious bun! We let him explore the sun-room (the room where his cage is) and he started binkying! I’m in bunny mama heaven! He explored immediately! I made him a hidey house, but he keeps on flipping it over, and nesting in it. Silly Bunny! I guess I’ll stop insisting that the hidey house goes right side up. My dad wanted to name him T-Bone, but I finally decided on Pepper, as a friend suggested (along with Ching Chong). He has also started pooping and peeing in the litter box! I never realized how much rabbits poop!

He is only 8 weeks old, so I am going to take him to a rabbit-savvy vet soon, and find out when we can get him neutered.

How do I get him to eat alfalfa hay? He won’t even touch it. -_-

If he’s eating alfalfa pellets, you can give him timothy hay instead of alfalfa hay. Try hand feeding some hay like its a treat also.

Thanks! Pepper is adorable! I opened his cage to give him more hay and he jumped out and started exploring the sun room some more! One thing’s for sure – we need to get some better traction in here, because his paws slide out under him when he tries to run or walk (usually run). I uploaded a picture to my album of him, even though it was a sleepy pic. I’ll try to upload a picture of him in his cage soon – but don’t worry, because I am currently trying to get some cubes for a new cage. He’s trying to eat his hay from outside the cage right now.

This is a dark pic of a grumpy bunny. Oh well – I’ll get more later!

LLLB: I know! He’s going to have to grow into them soon, but they are adorable! And we will have a tough time keeping those does away!

bam: Thank you! I can tell that he is adjusting to his new home better everyday!
