I know you all like a success story!

Duke and Dinky have been a bit of a nightmare to bond, we have had fights, chasing, circling and a lot of mounting for some time now. Each time we have thought we were nearly there we have taken huge steps back. It was beginning to feel impossible and we were giving up hope of ever getting them properly bonded.

We went home with the two buns to my mum’s and they were still in separate cages. After being at mums for a couple of weeks, still continuing short bonding sessions with little progress we decided that the perfect opportunity for a marathon bonding session was when we brought them back home. We cleaned the entire room they usually live in and dismantled their usual set up. We had stocked up on toys for their christmas presents so they had completely fresh everything, including matting. We introduced the two to their new home, and they haven’t looked back. There have been a couple of scuffles but nothing major and for the last week there have been no scuffling at all.

They now have had their old favorite toys reintroduced into the area slowly and have one of the old cages set up as a sleeping area which they can hop in and out of as they wish, there is no territorial behavior anymore and the mounting has stopped completely too! They are completely cage free and are very very happy buns.
