I have finally gotten to my new home and Frappe was a trooper the whole 3 days!

We started in WA and drove to OR and something went wrong with the number 7 spark plug. Got it fixed and was back on the rode. When we where half way through CA to Southern CA the number 8 spark plug popped out! We got a tow truck but i wasnt allowed to take him into the tow truck while we drove. So when they were lifting the truck it was bouncing. I almost started to cry because i was so worried about him. What if he was freaking out or was scared? After that ordeal we arrived at our new home.

My mom is renting a room from her best friend down here for the time being but she doesnt want “rodents” running around her place.

It never occurred to get an x-pen because he was aloud to run around freely. But now i need one fast and cheap. It needs to be big enough for him to play in.Or just some measurements..

I also need some recommendations on bedding. (I am currently using cardboard boxes on the bottom of his cage )

Thank you and have a blessed day!

Look on Amazon – most are 4 feet x 4 feet. The taller the better.

What do you mean by bedding? Do you mean litter for the litter box?

I looked on Amazon and on Ebay.. But they were cheaper on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400753631282?var=670298321161 I was thinking about buying two of these for more space and because Frappe has never been the one to jump over cages.

By bedding i mean for the bottom of his cage. I havent upgraded from the 2’x4′ guinea pig style one, because it was used mostly as a kitchen for him but now since he will be spending some time in there cause of my new living situation i need some better bedding…

I got a massive pen off amazon really cheap I cant remember the actual sizes but its easily over six feet long by at least five feet wide, put it this way I am 5foot four and I can lie across it width ways and its way bigger than me length ways, its also pretty tall, just about up to my waist. I am in the UK though but I am sure you could get something similar in the US.

If you are using a pen you can put a fleece blanket at the bottom if your bun doesn’t chew it that’s what we have for Bramble in his pen, for a cage most people say you shouldn’t put anything in the bottom because they think the whole thing is a litter tray but Bramble (and all my previous buns) have wood shavings at the bottom of his cage and he only ever goes in one corner (he is only in his cage at night). if using wood shavings you do have to be careful about the type of wood though, some are not suitable for bunnies.

Okay, one of those if configured in a square is 4 feet x 4 feet. You don’t really want bedding per say for the flooring…I’ve just used carpet when I’ve done the pens.

I just bought the Oxgord Play Pen from Ebay for $23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400753631282?var=670298321161. It will come on the fifteenth and i cant wait!!

I have used shavings in the past but I go through them a lot and they usually find there way out of his cage which frustrates me.
I am a little worried to use fleece because he has recently been shredding up paper or the cardboard at 7:00 in the morning but you know he might like to shred up the fleece also!

Sarita are you saying just to buy some carpet and use that as flooring for the x-pen?? Or use the actual carpet from you home??

I think Sarita means those carpets you can buy at, say, Home Depot (Lowe’s doesn’t have ’em) either several smaller ones or longer runners. They can be cut, too, if necessary. Makes cleaning nice because you can take them outside and clean and return when dry

Carpet is fine, but if he shows any interest in chewing on it, a piece of regular linoleum works fine as well. I personally use fleece, I find mine don’t chew on it as long as it is held taught, I put bricks in the corners of the condo to hold it down.

Bramble chews everything in sight – except his fleece blanket its weird. he will sometimes play with it and dig at the sides and stuff occasionally he will pull it about with his teeth, but he never actually chews it.

I agree wood shavings are a pest when they find their way out of the cage but I cant bear him having nothing in the bottom and his current night time cage is too small to fit a big blanket in. once his condo arrives (ongoing saga) I hope to only use them in his litter tray.
