Hopefully your bun will have a taste for it (I know Peter thought it was the best thing EVER) and drink it from the dropper, but if not you either force-feed with syringe or mix it in with something that you know they will eat, like pumpkin…
Here’s sending {{good vibes}} for you and your bun on an easy spay and smooth recovery!

When i was giving my rabbit pain meds, i slipped the oral syringe behind his front teeth so he couldn’t bite off the tip. I don’t think she’ll fight you too much.

When I got my bun neutered, the vet was almost unable to give him pain meds. They would hold him and stick the syringe behind his teeth, and my rabbit would struggle so much his wound would ‘ooze’. They actually told me when I came to take him home that giving him the pain meds would probably cause him more stress than not doing so…needless to say, this stressed ME out considerably.

Well, when we got home I tried a different tactic than restraining him. I gave him a tiny piece of dried papaya ( he loves it), another tiny piece, then filled up the syringe with the meds and smeared some papaya near but not on the opening. I put the syringe in front of my bun’s face, he bit onto it, and I slowly squirted the meds into his mouth. SO easy! After that, all I needed to do would lower the syringe into his cage and he would run and bite it, allowing me to squirt the meds in. Just had to be careful not to administer them too quickly, or the rabbit could choke on the fluid.

I am happy to report the spay went amazing. Artemis drang her meds straight from the syringe and Cookie and Lola have their surgery saturday morning. i cant say how much of a difference i already see in my bun. She has been super cuddly and has not peed once on my hardwood floor since she came home. Im soooo proud!!!

Today was kinda weird. Artemis was being an obnoxious bun to say the least. I hope its just hormones kinda settling down. She bit my ankles, chewed up my shoes, and thats just not like her at all;(

How is she doing today? The behavior change may have been her being irritated, possibly due to pain. Or, like you said, just hormones. Their hormones go crazy after spays.

She has been nudging or nipping my ankles alot. I just plop right down where I am and pet her. I want her to know that Im there for her. And who really knows…maybe she still hurts a bit and is uncomfortable. She is still digging like a mad woman which I had never seen her do before but its not as often. Last night she was pretty calm compared to the last week.

From what I have read, it takes around a month or so for the hormones to settle. She will gradually calm down. Take care of her
