So about 2 months ago, I adopted an angora lop from my local humane society? I’ve been recently trying to get Java to let me trim his nails, and he absolutely won’t let me. He hates having his paws touched at all, so I really have no idea how I’m supposed to do this. I’m thinking about maybe taking him to the vet for him to get it done for the first couple times just to get him used to it?? He’s at least a year and a half, so I’m thinking he’s had his nails trimmed before but I’m really not sure. Any advice? Thanks!?

Since you’ve never done it before, and vets charge very little to do it (like $11-15 ish) I would take him to the vet first. Ask your vet to let you watch carefully and instruct you on how to do it. Have the vet show you the right clips to use, and where the quik is on his nails, and how to make a bunny burrito or at least how to hold him while taking his paw.

But after that, we have some good info. on it here. Above is the menu with Bunny Info. and you should find instructions on how to do it yourself. Also, if you search the forum for posts with videos to show you. I thought we bookmarked at least one at the top of the forum as well.

I agree-get the vet to do it now. Then start working on handling her feet slowly until she allows it.
