I was cleaning Clarice’s cage tonight and had her out. She jumped on top of her cage and landed in the bowl of soapy water I use to clean. The bowl is only used for their cages and I use about 2-3 drops of Dawn soap for probably about a gallon of water. She got her front feet, midsection, and butt a little wet before I grabbed her and put her down on a towel. Absolutely will not let me help and insists on licking it all off. I use Dawn soap because various vets have told me over the years that it is totally safe for animals and buns specifically and I should just dilute it as much as possible. Recommendations? Should be fine but I should monitor more closely right?

Dawn is very safe, they use it for a lot of domestic and wild animals and birds that need to be cleaned off especially after oil spills. I think if you managed to get the worst of initially with the towel she should be fine. Just monitor her behavior and keep up lots of fresh water and hay.

Yeah I was going to say-they use it on wild animals to clean up after oil spills so I’m sure it’s just fine! Sounds like you use it very diluted as well
