        Hi guys,

So my bun Rodney is a 5 month old Unneutered boy. (Due to be neutered next month)
He lives in an 8×8 enclosure with the door open around 8 hrs per day.
I’ve searched everywhere for this behaviour but I can’t find anything!

If I am sat on the floor or just enter the room he’s in, he’ll often bunny circle me, buzzing away like crazy and doing mini- binkies.
If I sit down on the floor he’ll come over and nudge at me/lick me/nibble me, but if I try to return the favour he just hops off. In fact he’s licking my arm right now!
I live him grooming me but unsure why he won’t let me give him a stroke back? Am I doing it wrong? I’m gently stroking the top of his head (when he ocassionally lets me if he’s sat in his enclosure chilling)?

He just. Popped back over and climbed onto my legs. Cutie.

        Any clues?

        Jade

Nah, you aren’t doing anything wrong. Most rabbits are like this – they just like to give affection and get affection on their own terms. It sounds like he likes you just fine.

Well, he’s an intact teenage boy with raging hormones. What he’s after is a little hanky-panky, not a snuggle session. And like Sarita said, most bunnies only allow pets on their own terms. He might become more open to it after he has been neutered and isn’t so preoccupied.

              Hazel, LOL!!!

              But that’s probably exactly right.

Neutering + the maturity that comes with age usually make a bunny a bit more mellow. But they still do like to have things their own way. It can take a while before they allow you to pet them. And that’s perfectly normal for a rabbit, so don’t worry!

Ermergerd my Nimmy was the exact same way. Now he’s much more demanding about me petting him. He used to lick me constantly! His hormones are raging out right now. Once they calm down (if not before the neuter than after) he’ll be calmer and probably want you to pet him.

My bunny only lets me pet her when were on the couch and she’s too scared to jump down. Whenever she has free range of the room she’s too busy playing to care about a pet on the head. she grooms me a lot, but doesn’t want to be groomed back because she probably feels like she’d rather play then let me pet her haha your bunny is probably the same way

I think that younger rabbits will give more affection to people than older rabbits and older rabbits would enjoy being pet!

You guys were right, his neuter is on Friday but this week he’s started jumping onto my knee and nudging at me then lying next to me on the couch and ‘purring’ while I pet him. the cutie. I am spending ALL my student loan on him though the spoilt bun! I’ve never had so much healthy food in my fridge!
