Smudge (2 year old male) and Lola (1yr old female) have been bonded for almost 10 months. They are both neutered and spayed and have lived in the the same hutch outdoors. However, due to the winter we have moved them to an indoor cage inside. All Smudge seems to want to do is mount Lola and ‘hump’ her!! He used to do this very rarely but now it is constantly happening. I come home to find bits of Lola’s fur around the cage that Smudge has pulled out and Lola keeps running off when he tries to mount her. She isnt scared but clearly dislikes it with her running off. Should I separate them? Anyone else had this trouble?

I’m going through something similar right now except my girl is humping my boy and he has always been the dominant one. Mine only seem to do this (that I’ve seen) in the common play area shared (different time) by my single bun.

The change of scenery has likely triggered an urge to reassert dominance. I wouldn’t be too worried, unless Lola is becoming distressed.

Thank you. I’m just a little worried that when I’m at work if Lola becomes stressed cos Smudge really struggles to leave her alone at times!! But then they do lay down together and lick each other!
Funny rabbits!! Hope you get your rabbits sorted too. Glad I don’t have to separate them as they do clearly love each other. Fingers crossed….
