My little baby bunny March is about five months old now and she used to have very good litter box habits she would either only go in her cage or on her special bunny blanket.

Lately, she has been really weird. It usually happens when she’s running around or hopping over her bunny friend. The old lady named Treasure. She pees a little. There’s little drops on my carpet where she has been running and poor Treasure’s back is always wet because March pees whenever she jumps over her.

The other day when the bunnies were on the couch with me, the cat walked into the room. Kiki (the cat) has always been scared of the bunnies and never goes near them, but I guess March didn’t want her there and she sprayed everywhere. Like, she seriously went a 180 degrees around her. It got all over my pants, my friend’s pants, Treasure, and eventually to the cat who was on the other side of the room.

It was funny, but I don’t want her doing it again.  It’s strange because whenever she goes into her new litter box, she sits in the corner and goes to the bathroom like normal. But it seems she can’t control where she dribbles. Is this spraying? Does she think she’s marking her territory? Or can she not hold her bladder?

I’ve heard you shouldn’t fix a bunny before she is 6 months but do you think it’s hormones? Should I fix her anyway?

Advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

This is a bunny communication method. One of my females does the same thing when she is around other rabbits. Probably there are different smells in the urine meant to be a signature or marking.
Would make sense given rabbits live together in large groups in the wild and must communicate.
