Long story short, I had my 7 month old rabbit Jinglebell neutered on Thursday. He started getting his normal energy back the next day, but since the surgery he has flat out refused to eat pellets. I was terrified at first thinking he could be suffering from the dreaded G.I stasis, but he’ll eat veggies and hay with no problems. He just doesn’t want his pellets.

I tried switching pellet brands and he still wanted nothing to do with them. My vet won’t be back in the office until Monday, so until then I’ve just been giving him as many rabbit-safe veggies as I can, and piling up the hay.

Has anyone else experienced something like this after a surgery? I love my rabbit, but I don’t know that I have the means to feed him a veggie-only diet. He’s a Flemish Giant, and already 9 lbs at 7 months.

Bramble barely ate anything for the first few days after his neuter. I would say as long as he is eating and pooping at this stage I wouldn’t be too worried. Hopefully once he is fully recovered from his surgery his diet will return to normal.
