My bunnies have recently had accidents on the carpet next to their litter box and the carpet has been starting to smell. I washed the urine spots with warm water and a natural essential oil soap and rinsed it away with warm water again. It helped the smell but the bunnies are still going there. I looked up some recipes online and found that you can make a carpet powder just by mixing some baking soda and drops of essential oil. I have been looking to see if this could harm the rabbits in any way but I am seeing mixed responses and that makes me really nervous. Has anyone used baking soda as a carpet powder before?

Baking soda is safe. The essential oil depending on what it is might not be. Some people on these forums have reported liver problems in rabbits exposed to pine.

You can also try using a white vinegar and water solution. For more cleaning power, a tiny bit of a natural dish detergent can be added.
