Hey guys, quick question – we are in a horrible flat at the moment, its very very cold as the heating doesn’t work at all. We are moving on the 20th so theres light at the end of the tunnel.

It is so cold that Mr. Paws and I can see our breath in the flat every evening and we always stay in blankets. Merlin and Luna don’t seem toooooo bothered. They’re s till eating and active and they have a lot of hiding holes like underneath the bed, a basket with a blanket, cardboard boxes, etc, but my question is – what behaviour should i look for if they are unhappy or cold?

They should be fine. My rabbits seem to enjoy it more when I need a blanket. If they start to get lazy and/or eat less then you might want to get a space heater or something for them.

As long as they have a blankie to snuggle under most buns don’t mind the cold. They can tolerate it more than us humans. If mine are feeling chilled they just wiggle under their blanket for a snooze.

They are surprisingly tolerant (for such little animals) of cooler temperatures and prefer them to being over heated. I’m not sure what behaviour to watch for but if you are ever concerned you can slip a hot water bottle into a cardboard box and put it near to or in one of the places they like to snuggle in. If they are chilly cuddling on or against it should do the trick.

In the mean time hang in there, not long to go now! Glad you will be moving soon!
