Hey guys! I haven’t been active on here as much lately because I’m a student and finals are swallowing me whole. But Theodore and I are very well, as is the rest of the house.

However, I do have some queries for you:

        1) My shipment of Oxbow Timothy was delayed a little so I had to go and get a small bag of Kaytee in the meantime until it arrived. Theodore’s not picky and will wolf down just about any hay, and he’s had the Kaytee many times before, so I wasn’t worried about this. However, I did notice that after eating only the Kaytee, his poops started looking healthier, actually. They got just slightly bigger, rounder, and a better color. There were also a little more of them than there tend to be when he’s only eating the Oxbow. His energy level is up and he’s a happy, furiously binkying little bunny as always. Is it possible that the Kaytee is just better for his digestive system? I know Oxbow is a better hay, but the evidence would suggest otherwise… and I know he eats the same amounts of Oxbow when I have it, because I’ve watched him endlessly munch on it. Thoughts?

        2) A while back I gave Teddy a wicker basket, which he’s thoroughly enjoyed and now has decided his new favorite game is to chew and tear the ever loving crap out  of it. I walked in this morning to find broken twigs of wicker everywhere. He’s not swallowing, just chewing and ripping apart, but I was curious if I need to be worried about these small pieces of wicker possibly getting lodged in a paw or something.

        Thanks as always! <3

As far as the hay goes it could be a natural variation in hay quality. We buy bales of hay from Tractor Supply. It was grown locally and is good quality. Growing season weather this summer was great in our region. It is not this way every year but a 70 pound bale is only $17 and feeds 3 bunnies for months. In short brand name hay quality varies depending on lots of natural factors.
About the wicker basket as long as it is natural fiber things should be ok. If it is synthetic or painted take it away. Our boy bunny has pretty much eaten an entire basket in the past few years. He is fine.

Thanks drwil! Yep, the basket is natural wicker, so it should be okay.
