Hey everyone Hope you are all well.

I’m not new to rabbit forums, however I am new to this one. I just had a question wanting opinions on something about my Zoe’s cage and what I’m wanting to do. I see a lot of photos and info on people leaving their rabbits cage on the floor, so they can leave there space on their own and enter it on their own, etc. Firstly my bunny Zoe is still a baby and only a few months old, so she is still getting used to being handled, as I did just bring her home last month. She’s in great shape and health However due to her still getting used to being handled, I am having a hard time getting her in and out of her cage. Doing it safely, just me getting scratched a lot..lol. I was wondering if I put her cage on the floor so she can come out on her own, if I should be worried about the new height change being drafty, being she will be on the floor. Or does that only matter depending on where I put her cage on the floor? I hope that made sense, lol. Her cage is currently sitting on a Ceder Chest. If any more info is needed just let me know I am currently of course working on her getting used to being handled, just don’t want her to be so stressed while we work on it.She does get out in her playpen daily, and is held while in her playpen on the floor for safety.

Thanks in advance for the opinions!

I think that it makes sense for the cage to either be on the floor or for Zoe to have a safe ramp to get out of her cage and down to the floor on her own. This way she can decide when she wants to play and for how often. Pumpkin goes in and out of her cage/condo all day depending on how she feels. Do you keep Zoe’s food and water in her cage? If so, it would be good for her to have access to it all times and if her cage is up high, she can’t get to it if she’s hungry or thirsty.

I wouldn’t worry about it being drafty unless there is an extreme draft of hot or cold. Just make sure whatever area Zoe has access to is safe!

Thanks a lot Yeah, she has access to everything in her play-pen as well. She only has access to it when I’m home, I’ll go ahead and move her down to the floor for now. I like the ramp idea, so I’ll have to work on seeing how I can pull that off. Thanks again for the reply!

You are right..lol. She seems to enjoy being able to go in and out of her cage to her play-pen, she takes naps in her cage now and seems to be a ham when it comes to her door..She likes to put her paws on the ledge and hang her head out watching the stuff going on outside her play-pen..lol She enjoys it. Will try and get pics and post them
