        Hi all!

Two years ago I adopted an ex-breeding French Lop buck. He was six at the time and showing his age – I didn’t think we’d have long together, but I set him up in my kitchen with a crate, a litter box, plenty of hay and some exciting new toys.  Being a Marvel geek, I named him Bucky.

Within a few weeks he was a different bun; he’d slimmed down and gained bags of energy.  He also got very particular about his setup, and would let me know when he was bored of a certain toy by flinging it out of his crate!

These days he has free range in the kitchen; the counters are too high for him to jump onto, and we don’t have anything plugged in at floor level, so he’d struggle to get into mischief.  I chose not to neuter him because of his age (I didn’t want to risk the anaesthetic) so he’s still a bachelor, but he seems happy.  He’s a bit aloof compared to other rabbits I’ve had, but I put that down to him not being a pet until relatively recently.  He does like to hang out with me – I sit with him every day when I’m having a cup of tea, and he listens as I tell him about my day – but he doesn’t seek out cuddles and he’ll never be a “soppy” bun.

As for me, I’m Ally and I’m from Lancashire in the UK.  I’ve had rabbits since I was a child so it was the first thing I wanted to do when I got my own house – and when I found out about Bucky, I couldn’t say no

Thank you for your kind words of welcome, everyone; I’m sorry it’s taken so long to respond, my grandmother was taken into hospital in early December, so between that and work life got slightly chaotic.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas – Bucky sends nose wiffles to you all, and says thanks for welcoming him to the forum. I’ll try to get him to pose for a nice picture soon!
