For the last week or so his pee has had basically no substance at all. It has no color, and I was doing some research and apparently rabbits pee out some calcium which makes it kind of cloudy, and it’s not cloudy either. It really just looks like the water goes in one end and out the other.

He’s been drinking a fair amount but I wouldn’t call it excessive. I usually refill his water dish every day or two, and it’s been about on par so far.

My best guess is that it’s because we recently switched from mostly pellets to mostly hay. None of the stores around here carry pellets anymore, so I figured it would be fine to switch as long as I kept giving him lettuce and stuff. I guess it wasn’t?

Anyway it would be great to know what’s happening here; he’s acting exactly the same but I’m still kind of worried.

If you are completely eliminating pellets you need to make sure your bun is getting a variety of greens. Lettuce is to watery, particularly iceberg, cos is not so bad. Kale, parsley, basil, mint, cilantro plus little bits of fruit and carrot for treats. Check out the rabbit care section on the home page, there is a great list there. You can also order pellets online if you are concerned and want to reintroduce them.

my buns diet remains fairly the same day to day and pee will range between clear white to a rust red.
