Kimber is becoming a sweet and cuddly bunny. She adores my 2 year old son and often follows him around like a lost little puppy and loves to give what he calls bunny kisses, which is just sniffing his face). She jumps on the couch just to sit with him and he loves it. With that said having a 2 year old snacks and food are constantly dropped on the floor. I pick it up as soon as I see it but I’m beginning to understand the phrase quick as a bunny. It’s like she has food radar and she’s there nibbling before I get a chance to get it. Obviously it’s not good for her to be consuming high amounts of things other than what she’s suppose to be eating but my question is…is it going to hurt her? It’s unavoidable that there will be crumbs having a toddler. I don’t allow her to eat them but I sometimes think she has super bunny senses! She’s eating her regular food and hay and pooping and peeing normally (no poopy butt).

Thank you in advance for your answers!

your bun is probably very smart. She might have learned that if i follow this person along treats will drop to the ground.

to be honest having some human snacks on accident once isn’t going to be a huge deal. It’s not ideal and on the health scale its definitely not good, but it’s not the end of the world. That said, since you have a small child, its going to be a while before he is the age that he can clean up after himself or be more aware of his surroundings (actually people still have hard time to get teenagers to clean up after themselves!). So given that, I would say its probably not a good thing. A little bit isn’t a big deal, lots of little bits probably can add up.

I see why she loves your son!
I know what you mean by food radar.
Mine know when I have raisins hidden in my pocket or even when I ate a banana in the other room and didn’t bring them some.

It’s funny you say that about hidden food. Kimber goes bat crazy for fresh mint. If I’ve just handled it and she comes over for love she tries to nibble my fingers off! She doesn’t bite but she makes sure I know she wants some!

                Is your bunny free roam?

She is free roam but only supervised. When we aren’t home she is in a very large bunny house that we custom built for her. Because of her breed we need we needed big! With that being said…I don’t know what to do other than put her in her house everytime we eat or my son has a snack. Which I feel is unfair to her since she loves to run 500mph around the house and jump like crazy. She’s such a happy bun when she’s out.
