Its 12 degrees (Fahrenheit) here in Minnesota. I looked it up on a converter calculator online and it says that means -11.11 Celsius for those that use Celsius.

At any rate, it’s FREAKING COLD! And I’ve had a bad day. Somehow I talked my husband into running to the store to pick up veggies for Pumpkin b/c we’re out. We don’t need anything for us at the store, just the bunny!

Ha, as he’s leaving he asks (without looking at the computer screen) “Do you want the remote, or are you good on BinkyBunny?”

I’m good on BInkyBunny with my Christmas quilt, thanks!! Haha lucky bunny….

Yeesh that’s cold! Now I feel like a jerk when I complain that our weather gets down to 33 degrees. I’m definitely a California bred guy. You have a real winner, though! Isn’t it early for a Christmas quilt, though?

LOL! My hubby ‘who doesn’t like the bunny’ will go back to the veggie shop the next day cause they didn’t have Kale when we shopped the day before! Ha aha ha! He has also taken up eating banana’s – Henry gets a bit of banana every night when he gets home from work! He also cleans Henry’s toilet every second day, lays on our dirty floor to pat and talk to him, and questions if I fed him his veggies when he see’s his bowl empty! HUH? Lets not forget, the hubby will NOT pick Henry up (when he regifted Henry to me for my birthday after I gifted him to the hubby for his birthday, he got him into his carrier and handed him to me that way – as LBJ said, Henry came ‘wrapped’! LOL!) cause he doesn’t want Henry not to like him. All this for a bunny my hubby DOES NOT LIKE! Work that one out…..

PS – Guess what my hubby is getting for Christmas??? Ha ha ha ha ha! Henry is the gift that keeps on giving!

PPS – And I’m guessing I’ll get Henry back for Mother’s Day! And the cycle will begin again *sigh*!

Mu hubby will do anything for the bunnies at home, but do not ask him to leave the house (especially in the cold)! Its just as well, there’s no telling what he’d come back with!

JP the Christmas blanket is a year round thing! Its an on-going joke…when we first started dating and it was still out in July I was making fun of him and he made up this elaborate story about how his grandma made it and its so special, blah blah blah. A total lie-it was bought, he was just too lazy to put away for the season. It still stays out all year round. JP where are you located now?

Aw Andi your hubby sounds so sweet! I love that he started eating bananas just to share!! Henry is totally the gift that keeps on giving!! I love that idea! “Stick that!” I’ve never heard that one……

JR I was little nervous about him coming back with the right stuff. He walked in and yelled “Pumpkin’s snacks are here!”

That is too sweet! No matter how much my hubby loves the bunnies, if he actually did go out on the cold for bunny veggies, he’d still come in and say “here’s the stuff for those dam rabbits” just in case there was another male around so he could still sound macho! And this is the man that calls Moshi “son”?????!!!!

Our weather has been getting in the lower teens too.

*Sneakily puts away bins of Christmas decorations that were just about to be unpacked*

We once bought a Christmas tree the day before Thanksgiving. The Christmas tree farmer was like: “Don’t you think it’s a little early for a tree?”
                      “Err no?”

Haha, that’s ok. Local businesses already have their hold music as Christmas tunes, so I guess it’s not too early after all, haha. I live in Central California now, though I’ve lived in Southern California, Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as Arvada, Colorado.

Moxie–i would already have my tree and decor up if it wasn’t for family coming here for thanksgiving. It irriates them when ppl decorate early but i LOVE IT! I usually have my tree up the first weekend in November!

I love decorating early too LLH! We already have four bins in the Dining room waiting to be unpacked. As soon as the house is cleaned spotless. We still haven’t even checked the Attic/Spare room(whatever room) for any loose decorations.

The thing is that I think we lost our Christmas tree stand when we moved last month or so.

Don’t get me started on Christmas music—Love it!

Sad note for this year— We don’t have TV yet so no Macy’s day parade on Thanksgiving. *sad face*

One thing I don’t like about Christmas is the music…I worked at a grocery store in college and got so burned out by the music starting in early november and not ending until well into January. Hubby loves it though and loves to torture me!

We don’t have cable either my husband’s family likes to watch the Yule Log burning on some channel….odd. But we have an actual fire place now, so thats even better!

Hubby says we can start decorating as soon as the Thanksgiving meal is over!! yay!!!!! I was hoping to get a bigger tree but think we’ll wait for a sale!

As the kid’s got older, I have slowly gotten over Christmas. If it wasn’t for Blair, I doubt I’d make the effort at all??? So I have a new house rule, no Christmas ‘stuff” until December the first! And it all has to disappear before New Years Day. I must sound like a Grinch – sorry! It’s just that I get stuck doing everything on my own since my mum and Grandma passed. Not having little kiddies anymore to surprise, well it’s just not quite the same. Don’t get me wrong – Blair is still our kiddy that we surprise with gifts, and he is more excited now than he ever was as a young child cause he finally ‘get’s it’! But there are only so many thing’s/surprise gifts you can buy someone who hasn’t grown mentally – he already has every kiddy DVD, and I think the Wiggle’s have only released one since his birthday….. what to get him for Christmas this year??? It’s so stressful! And I think that’s why I have lost my Chrissy spirit. Maybe once the kiddies have kiddies, I’ll get my Christmas spirit back again???

PS – ‘Stick that’??? Aussie translation – an adamant NOT for me! Lol!

Andi is Blair your son? How old is he? I can imagine it would be hard to be motivated when you don’t have your mom and grandma…I think my grandma is the glue that holds the family together! I don’t know if my family would ever see each other if it wasn’t for her!

I love putting all the stuff–hate taking it all down!!!

LLH – my grandmother was like that. I grew up with Christmas traditions handed down from her. When she died, 18 years ago today, all the traditions stopped. I tried to keep them up so my son would grow up with the same traditions, but the rest of the family didn’t want to do anything for the holidays anymore because they didn’t want to be reminded that she wouldn’t be there. I prefer to keep the ones who have passed with us by keeping the traditions and laughing about some of the things we did when everyone was here.

Why didn’t I think to use it in a sentence??? LOL! Yep, Roberta explained it perfectly, ha ha ha!

Sorry LLH, yes Blair is my son. He is 24 with down syndrome. For someone who is so clever and can navigate his iPad better than I can this dam computer, his joy is still most things immature. He can’t read, write or speak in a sentence – but will not shut up! He drives me insane with his loud chitter chatter! Lol! Besides getting excited over Santa coming, he also loves the Easter bunny! He loves the festive season and while shopping he will wish everyone a Merry Christmas – then they look desperately at me and I have to say, ‘he wished you a Merry Christmas’ – soooo annoying! yet so sweet. After 24 years it does get boring – sorry! I hate having to smile at ‘everyone’ (especially when I’m in a rush) translating his well wishes…. Gee! I do sound like a Grinch! But his sweetness and kindness to other’s overwhelms me on occasion – no one is THAT nice??? I sure as hell aint! Lol!
When my mum was around, Blair was shared around, so the burden wasn’t constantly on me. I remember (and I still laugh about this) my mum saying she was going somewhere and I’d call out to Blair to put his shoes on, Grandma (mum-ma is what he calls her) is going out and to be quick so he could go with her…. LOL! Just an hour of silence can be relieving! I miss my mum, ha ha ha…..

Andi-Blair sounds very sweet….and very exhausting! My best friend has 2 1/2 year old twins; one was born with Cerebral Palsey and one w/ a heart condition. I have no foggy clue how she does it!!! Oh yea and she just had another baby last month! I’m over here just constantly worrying about my bunny! HA, if my bunny-mom anxiety is indication of the tiny human anxiety that is (hopefully) in my future, I don’t know how my husband will put up with me!

I still have the memories, but they are fading as each Christmas goes by.

AH — one of our traditions was my grandmother, mother, and aunt doing the cooking and talking the whole time. I used to sit in the kitchen with them, then started cooking with them, and now I do it all, exactly the same way my grandmother did. My aunt doesn’t come anymore, and my mother just sits in the kitchen and talks and acts as my “taster” now, but we still have the exact same “menu” that I grew up with, made the exact same way. Now, I cook everything the day before and reheat on Thanksgiving day since it takes all day for me to cook everything by myself — oh, the hubby does cook and mash potatoes on Thanksgiving though (he makes the best mashed potatoes but somehow he gets them all over the kitchen — walls, cabinets, everywhere!)

I used to always spend Christmas day at my Grandma’s house in the west/country where I originally came from (rabbit proof fence? What fence?). It was always the traditional hot meal (YUM!) with hot and cold desserts. Then one year everyone decided to come to my house and it continued from there as my Grandma got older. I started a new tradition that I have followed since. Everything is COLD! Seafood, ham, other cold meats, salad’s and desserts. I do the same JR – I prep everything the day/evening before so on Christmas day I only have to pull it out of the fridge and set up. Even the fresh breadrolls get put in the freezer the night before and pulled out in the morning. I think my lonely time is Chrissy eve when I do the prep by myself and Christmas afternoon when everyone (the hubby!) has a nap, or watches Blair’s new DVD’s till it’s time to start again for the evening. That was the time that we women sat quietly, relaxed and chatted. Sigh…..

I don’t know how your friend does it LLH??? Honestly! People like your friend deserve awards! Whenever I feel the need to be down on myself with Blair, I just think of people like your friend and I snap out of it pretty quickly (or I try to) knowing how lucky I am!

My friend is pretty amazing and it doesn’t hurt that her kids are darn cute!!

Everyone’s holidays sound so lovely!!! My husband and I live nowhere near our families and both sets have very specific traditions that they don’t like to deviate from. When we bought our house in August though, I texted both sides of the family and said we are hosting Thanksgiving. At first I felt bad, like I was taking it away from someone, but Jared’s grandma is SO happy to not have to do any work. Just show up, eat, and hang out with my grandma (they just love each other–we have awesome grandmas!)

Christmas is another story…from here to my family is 4 hours, my family to Jared’s is 2 hours, and Jared’s to our house is 3 hours. We make this big triangle and try to spend Christmas eve with one family and Christmas morning w/ one family. Sometimes Mother Nature has a different plan–one year we got snowed in at my mom’s for three days!!!! Couldn’t even go 12 miles to get to the rest of my family! It was crazy, but beautiful!

Part of why I wanted to host THanksgiving is b/c I get sick of all that driving. Kind of hoping it goes well and it starts our own new tradition!

Go on YouTube and search 12 pains of Christmas by  Bob Rivers. I’ll try to post a link later…

That’s sad about all the traditions being lost.
I hope you all have an amazing holiday season everyone. <3

I love the Christmas season. I think we are going to set up our tree at some point during the week. Christmas is going to be at our house this year-mum, dad, his mum and dad, my brother, his wife, and their kid. And Andi-You are coming over too right? And bring everyone, I would have too much fun shopping for all of you guys (especially Blair and Henry, ha ha ha). We usually have an informal cold lunch and a nice dinner. Sound good to you AH?
And you know what you are getting, ha ha ha…. A vacuum attachment and bunny flags! LOL

And remember you asked…… Blair (and I, sshhhh! don’t tell anyone) wants you to take him (us) to Disneyland! And I’m guessing our kid’s, the 3 M’s will expect that if you are taking Blair, they will want (expect) to go toooo??? I tell you, having these kid’s are exhausting and demanding! So I’m thinking we need to come to your place Christmas eve. The plans for us for Boxing day are on the chat thread…. We have 3 full days ahead of us!
