In the last day or so Puck seems to have decided that he loves chewing on the vinyl flooring that we put down in his cage We use it for the bottom of his cage, part of his pen (just in case he misses the litter box) and on the shelf to protect his feet from the wire grids I used to make the shelf. He leaves the flooring of his cage alone, but he started taking a bit of a nibble out of the vinyl in the pen, yesterday, and this morning I got up and he’d ripped quite a big chunk out of the vinyl on his shelf He doesn’t seem to be eating it, but I’m not sure if it’s safe to use the vinyl in his cage anymore? I haven’t got any money for alternatives until the end of next week

          Hi!

For my two bunny condos, I stapled the mesh inside the border of the bottom floor by about an inch, so my girls couldn’t get a mouth around any outside edges. For the flooring, I used stick on “hardwood” panels. I’m not sure how your cage is constructed, but I also had issues with my Princess chewing the sheet vinyl that was under her cage when we first got her. It might just be something they’re interested in chewing, whereas I have found the the faux hardwood panels doesn’t interest them at all and are very inexpensive. Also, I have stapled each strip down with a few staples at its edges so that if they would manage to get one up, they wouldn’t be able to get much of it at all and the adhesive won’t be an issue. I’ve heard a few people say that staples are unsafe, and obviously they are when they’re unstapled. But, I’m an adult man and I can’t pull one from wood without significant effort, so I doubt a bun could either. Staple guns/basic staples are less than 10 bucks total at your local hardware giant. Hope this helps!
