Hello All, see attached photos for the issue we are having. This is little “Raptor” my new dwarf bunny. Just adopted him about 2 weeks ago and since day 1 he had a red eye that was goopy. The owner told me that he must have scratched it when playing (running from presumably) another of her pets. It did almost look scratched and the redness has come down alot but still looks like this, wet and has white puss daily. We have been cleaning it and using polysporin eye drops daily as well. Just wanted to get your thoughts and see what you think. I have read into the Pasteurella or other similar bacteria as well as the tooth root issue. Hoping it was just a scratch and won’t need to go to the vet. How long should we wait before we get concerned. Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks. P.s. It is only the one eye. And nothing from the nose.

I can’t see the pic, but bunny eye issues can get pretty serious if not treated correctly and timely, so a vet visit is definitely in order.

I don’t see a picture posted here but i do agree with what Jackrabbit suggested regarding seeing a vet. I wouldn’t wait any longer to see if it clears up on its own.

Generally, it is a good idea to get a “baseline” exam by your vet anytime you get a new rabbit (or any pet for that matter). You can call and set this up and let them know you need an initial exam and there is a possible eye infection you are concerned about.

Please let us know what he vet says!
