Apologies if this is posted elsewhere.

With all the different types of buns, how did you choose one??? (If you had a choice.)

        Mine wasn’t a choice.

I inherited Kieko, but always loved “floppy eared bunnies” so I chose Holland Lop when I started looking for another bunny since they are the smallest lops and would be close to Kieko’s size.

Hmm, I always thought fluffy bunnies were so adorable, so I was thinking about a lionhead. Well, long story short, I almost impulsively bought a little short haired (bad-tempered) bun when I was hurting, but I got talked out of it. Somebody I knew was expecting a litter of angoras, so I decided to wait and choose one of hers. Well I did research and fell in love with the breed.
(well that person’s bun ended up not expecting, but I got a French Angora from somebody else…)
I don’t think I made it short? LOL.

With Mr. Pickleboots, I wasn’t given a choice. He was given to me by family friends. I wouldn’t have picked a Dutch if given the choice (their look just didn’t appeal to me), but I was very excited to get my first rabbit. And obviously he has grown on me tremendously. I love Dutch rabbits now!
With Pinkerton (a New Zealand White), I wanted a large rabbit, and he was the one at the store that got along with Pickleboots the best. My dream rabbit is a French Lop, but maybe some other day! Love my current buns

When I decided I wanted a bunny for the first time 6 years ago, I knew I wanted a brown dutch. Had always been in love with them and to me were what rabbits were “supposed” to look like for some reason. We got our Bridge Bunny Boston at the pet store and they only had black and white lops so we picked her and loved her so much!!

With Pumpkin we knew we wanted to adopt this time so we just went to the human society, saw her, and couldn’t leave w/o her!

I had a tough time deciding what breed to get when I first wanted a rabbit. I was torn I wanted a Holland lop and a netherland dwarf and then of course I thought lionheads were so cute. I also like jersey woolies. So I decided that I wanted a small rabbit for my first rabbit and there wasn’t any Holland lops available in my area but there were Netherlands and lionheads so I ended up with a netherland. For my second bunny I ended up with another netherland but I didn’t choose her because she was a netherland I chose her because she was so cute and my husband thought the same and he allowed me to get her. If I were ever allowed to have more rabbits in the future I would get a bonded pair and I would adopt and then I wouldn’t really care about what breed they were.

Wow, breed plays into deciding? Lol
For us, we didn’t have anything in mind for our first bunny. We liked lips, but it wasn’t a make or break. When we found Bruno, we had to have her! She was the only lop and fuzzy to boot. Since then, we have fallen in love with all sorts. My husband wants a Flemmie (big one!) Someday and I would like another lop.

I adopted, but knew that I wanted a rabbit that was neither dwarf nor giant, was short haired and had uppy ears. Though my rabbit isn’t one, my favorite breed is Dutch rabbits.
