Hi everybody so this is my first post here, my girlfriend and myself purchased 2 pet bunnies as a gift for us about a week ago, one of the rabbits has had some issues keeping clean on the back end, i’m just going to go ahead and assume it was because of the change from the pet store food and the food i purchased for it to eat.  So i purchased some shampoo made especially for rabbits and we cleaned just the bottom side and dried her off she looks much better down in her bottom area, we took special care to make sure she was kept in a very warm environment whilst drying.

But the noise that worries me is this teeth grinding it does, I’ve seen posts saying that it is good and that it is bad noises all around and i was just hoping that ya’ll could help me differentiate between the two.

Welcome and congrats on becoming bunny parents! Be sure to read everything bunny in the info section of this site (all available from the menu button above). Oh, and we LOVE bunny pictures!!

I can’t see the video (my phone doesn’t support flash), but soft tooth grinding when relaxed is a happy bunny, louder tooth grinding when huddled up is pain.

Poopy butt in young bunnies can be a sign of coccidia (not uncommon in young bunnies but can be deadly if untreated and is highly contageous to other buns) and would require treatment by a vet (diarrhea would be an emergency vet visit). Any time you get a new bunny, its a good idea to have a vet do a checkup to make sure the bunny is healthy and to catch anything early that may be going on.

Well i guess we shall see if the poopy butt comes back, as of now she is just sulking after her bottom washing.

That is some loud grinding, but it was when she was petted so I’m not sure I second everything JR said, though.
It may be a good idea to take them in just for a check-up and mention the grinding and soft stool to the vet. Have you found an bunny-savvy vet in your area?

Alright so what happened after taking her to the vet was they have made the assessment that there is some intestinal discomfort that led to the teeth grinding, they said this could also have been the reason for the poopy butt, because of the discomfort she couldn’t reach down and clean herself.

we got some fluids to give her a few times a day and an antibiotic that we’ll be admistering a couple of times a day aswell, all in all the vet said the prognosis is good.

Did they check her poop for coccidia? What antibiotic and for how long?

No they did not check the poop for Coccidia.
The medication is Metrondazole for a duration of 7 days.

Hey everybody just a bit of a sad update.

Luna passed away today about 2 hours ago at the vets, i was told she stroked out and then passed on.

After going back to the petstore i was told from them that they couldn’t guarantee the health of their rabbits that they sold and therefore wouldn’t reimburse me for the money spent to attempt to save Luna’s life.

Because of this statement by the company my girlfriend and i shall be taking them to small claims court in order to get every single dime out of this company that we spend attempting to keep Luna with us, we have also demanded that whenever so we are ready they will provide us with, at no charge a new rabbit and then pay to have said rabbit checked out at a vet to make sure that my girlfriend and myself do not have to go through this again.

This broke my heart Her teeth-grinding in the video was definitely LOUD, so I bet it was pain. I am so, so, SO sorry to hear about all of this. I don’t usually get sad when I hear about pets dying because we all pass on at some point, but this was just unfair. You barely had her for any time at all :'( You must be so furious right now – I absolutely would be, too. I am SO sorry. My sincere condolences to you both

Also, will you please, please, please update us on the court case? I hope you get every single penny back!
