Lately my rabbit has been getting into and using our cat’s litter box. On the one hand, I’m glad she’s using the box and not the floor, but on he other hand, I’m not sure this is good for her. Could exposure to our cat’s waste be harmful to her? Is silica litter (the kind the cat uses) safe for bunnies?

Neither is recommended. Cat litter can harbor all kinds of nasty things. It’s unclear what may or may not be capable of going from a cat to a rabbit, but most people feel it isn’t worth the risk.

Paper-based or wood pellet litter is generally recommended since bunnies tend to nibble.
