Just curious… How can you tell which one of you is the boss bun? It’s easy to tell with a dog but with a bunny it’s a lot harder to tell.

don’t really know – but one thing stands out.
licking is a sign of grooming and so they either know that you dominate them or they consider you a fellow bunny

If you’re talking about you vs the bunny, lets just say whoever waits on the other, including providing treats as requested is NOT top bun. We call ourselves bunny slaves for a reason!

I have the final say on issues such as not eating my laptop cord…although she doesn’t realize that yet…and what type of treat she is getting….and whether or not she is going to the vet…but other than that, Queen is the boss. Unless DM has a change of things when he comes back in to the mix, but I doubt it.
She has always been the head boss and I am a rabbit. I have the goods though so she can’t push it too far and has to grace me with the privilege of petting her occasionally or making me feel so special by ripping my hair out while I sleep.
Me and the other buns are the underdogs…or underbuns in this case.

I know I am owned by the buns because I have to adjust and maneuver to suit them and their needs/wants- not the other way around- and I love them and wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s what makes our relationship so special to me and the rewards they give back are priceless.
Which is good because they drain my bank account faster than my kids do.

(They are all staring at me. Whatever it is- I didn’t do it.)

Ok, Dethroned wins. Draining the bank account trumps treats.

I figured that Philomena was boss and there was never going to be any change in that. She eats things out of my hands. She demands that I move upon her request. My homework is her chew toy (I always get it back from her before she ingests anything harmful to her). Just today I was doing an assignment with newspaper articles and “Little Miss Thing” decides to play with it. She took it out from under me and runs across the room with it. It was too cute so I couldn’t get mad at her.

I was just curious if anyone else had a rabbit that was as bossy as my little princess.

If we play follow the leader, I’m always the leader… doesn’t that count for anything? Also Anais seems to come when called which is rather impressive! But she is also a princess which means she deserves princess treatment.

@Jack- Well, you know how it goes.
Kid brings home 2 boy bunnies in a birdcage. Dad gets irate and mom goes AWWWWWWW….Dad relents and we have to go to store to get a “proper cage”- you know, one of those tiny way overpriced and completely ridiculous cages for a bunny to live full time in. $$ Plus accessories$ and yeah…that chewable house thing looks good too $ and some of that bagged seed food is probably needed $ along with the wood shavings bedding.$
Time passes and you realize one bun is a girl and oh crap, gotta buy everything again for a second set up. $$$$$$

More time passes and WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE BABY “MICE” UNDER YOUR BED?”
3 days later you realize these poor creatures are way out of a kids league so they now become yours and you carry them all off to your room, get on the internet to figure out what to do with bunnies and find BB.
Oh geez, this cage is way inadequate, gotta start from scratch. $$$$
Eeep- They suppose to be eating THAT stuff? And real veggies? $$$$
                      Oh man, what litter? $
There went my comforter- gotta go to buy one. $$
Ugh, this is never gonna come out of my carpet- off to get a shampooer. $$
How much to neuter/spay all these? $$$$$$$$
Baby needs meds for eye infection. $
There went my laptop cord and need plastic covers. $$
Oh geez, need wall corner covers. $$ and $$ when I have to actually fix the walls.

Oooohh, they like toys and stuff? I wonder whats for sale on the internet. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

                      $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

                      $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

                      $$$$$$……………….

Dethroned — Except for the babies, that sounds like my past year or so! Luckily my hubby has been very understanding and happens to love them now, but I don’t know what’s going to happen if I bring any more hay into the house (my living room was the barn but now that’s all moved to the storage room and is blocking the exercise equipment)!

Hehe, I hear ya. I think I’d be a lil embarrassed for anyone who isn’t part of the bun lover club to see my room.
I clean it thoroughly twice a day but…yeah…there’s always a few stray poops, food, toys and junk around within minutes-not to mention the NIC area taking up half of it.
Even found a poop on my dresser once and no idea how that got there unless I flung it when I was changing the sheets.

Wanted to ask- How come Kieko looks like a different breed? How did you get them all?

Those lops are so friggin cute, I want one if I ever get another bunny.

Kieko is a mutt bunny! Pretty sure she has some nethie, some rex, and possibly polish or satin. My son’s girlfriend got her at a pet store, she already had a bunny and her mom said she couldn’t have two, so my son says “my mom loves bunnies, she won’t say no” …… and she didn’t so Kieko came to live with us as “their” bunny and hubby and I fell in love with her. My son and his girlfriend kept reminding me that she was THEIR bunny, so I got fed up, told them that was fine, I’d get MY OWN bunny. I found an adorable black tort “female” online, and when I went to meet the breeder, the female was actually a male. The breeder brought two fluffy orange and cream females with her in case I really wanted a female. One of the females had a cut lip so wasn’t for sale. I couldn’t decide between the other two. Hubby said if I really wanted both to get them so I did. Had no idea what I was getting myself into! Kieko is such a people bunny and loves to curl up in a little ball on our laps. The M&Ms are way too busy for that, and Marlee is most definitely my bunny (after a year, she’s finally letting hubby occasionally pet her). Moshi is almost completely deaf, but happy as they come . . . as long as Marlee is in sight. All three have such different personalities. So much fun, but so much work and so much money! Wouldn’t trade them for anything though!

                              Awwwwwwww…

I used to wonder if the REW/Cujo had hearing or vision problems. I don’t think he’s deaf because he knows when I come in the room even if he isn’t looking but he doesn’t have much of a startle reflex or whatever it would be called in buns, when it comes to sound.
He also seems to not be very good at finding food that is right in front of him unless it’s in the predictable spot. When I feed treats I have to put one near his mouth and show him where I’m laying them down. I try to make sure he gets his and noone else takes it. I know he can see though because he gets around and looks at me, it’s just not as great as the others- hopefully it gets better as he gets older, he is still very tiny compared to the others.

These buns I have are definitely mutts, the tan one, Slick, seems to have ears that are too big for him. They are very long and sorta droop forward at the top. The others don’t do that. I’m not even sure Queen and DM are the same type of bunny. I shoulda done a thread, “What kind of buns are these?”
