I adopted my rabbit Hagrid on October 11. The rescue said that he had already been seen by a rabbit veterinarian. However, he sneezes a lot … not constantly, but definitely more than my other rabbit. Plus, when he touches his nose to me, it is a bit wet. I don’t see any signs of mucus, but should I be concerned?

It could be an Upper Respiratory Infection, aka Snuffles. Firstly, check for anything that could be making him sneeze. Dust, hay dust, a strong room freshner, maybe, anything. If you cannot find anything that could be causing an allergic reaction, wait for 2-3 days but keep observing him. Its normal for a rabbit to have a wet nose (in absence of mucus), and a few sneezes.
Look if the sneezing continues or increases, and if appetite decreases, you must take him to a vet. If its Snuffles, the vet will prescribe a dose of antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin or Enrofloxacin.

You said you adopted him on October 11. Its been around a month since he was last checked by a vet. I hope it isnt a URI or any major problem. But do keep an eye on the sneezes and appetite.

We don’t have any air freshener, so it could be dust. I will vacuum the room today and see if that helps. He also has a good appetite. Thanks for your help

No worries Post a new topic/update here in case vacuuming doesnt put and end to the sneezes.
