        Hi everyone,

So I live in Australia so it’s getting into summer and I gotta groom my bunnies but they are really scared.

It always takes me so long to get them use to me because every time they start to trust me one of them seems to have a problem (like a bite etc) and needs t go to the vet for vaccinations and check ups weekly and then I loose their trust again. This is why I don’t wanna groom them because I’ll have to pick them up and touch them and that freaks them out. I’ve heard people saying to cover their eyes with towels to calm them down but I know they’ll freak out every time I go into their cage if I do groom them.

Any tips? Should I leave them be and let them shed naturally or should I risk it? They are both short haired but I know one is quite fluffy and has lots of fur.

We comb/brush our lops every evening while they eat their salads. It took them a few days when we started doing this but now we can do just about anything as long as there’s a salad in front of them. No salad and all bets are off though!

I would say not to groom them while they are in their cage; it’s their territory and you’re bound to freak them out. Are they allowed out at all? If so, start by petting them while they are out and then go on to groom them. If you have someone who can help you, they can pet their heads/cover their eyes while you groom. It will help keep the bunnies calm and keep them from being at you for being in their space.
